Set MIC+LIN to ON.    (Page 55 of the manual).

If set to ON, and MIC SEL is set for FP or RP, the present mic OR line input can be used for transmit audio.

Note: Setting MIC SEL to LINE overrides the MIC+LIN menu entry (its parameter becomes "N-A"). When MIC+LIN is in effect, rotating the MIC control shows MIC gain. Set MIC SEL to LINE to adjust LINE IN gain.

You just have to be careful to not talk if you have a mic connected as I believe the MIC is hot while transmitting. I have not tested if the mic stays hot in awhile though as I run with MIC+LIN OFF and set it to LINE in (with a PF button programmed to switch).

The data mode you want is DATA A and NOT PSK (that is for the internal PSK decoder).

The biggest change for people not used to the K3 is that for digital mode like this you DO want ALC deflection. You want to set it for the 5th bar is barely lighting up. That is different than other radios where you do not want ANY ALC deflection.

See page 34 and 30 for more info.

PSKReporter showed reception all over the US, Switzerland, Russia, Japan, the Carribbean, West Africa, etc. Who says there is no propagation?

My first surprise was in the WSJT configuration, I set the mode to Pkt/Data and it did not work. I had to set it to None. Then set the radio to USB, not Data, and change the MIC SEL to LINE IN. It seems a nuisance to have to go into the menu and change the MIC SEL each time you want to move from voice to FT8.  Most radios I set up, I chose the Pkt/Data and when I select a band in the band map, it automatically sets the radio to DATA and audio flows properly. That does not seem to be the case for the Elecraft.

Did I miss something in the configuration? Surely one does not have to go into the menu and make changes every time he wants to go from SSB to FT8?

Any insights appreciated.

Andy, I'm having pretty much the same issue, I think a lot of the rig control error when it pops up may be the USB port changing, the no transmit is the one that's more confusing and troubling for me... this started 3 days ago for me, I have also completely removed WSJT-X including config files, changed settings and I still am not getting any TX... attached are shots of the settings I have, FLRig and FLDigi work normally and are the same settings as here, perhaps one of the Devs can check on this issue, there's someone else posting about this as well

OS: Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine (AMD64)

yes, you can run multiple instances, you just need to rename the configuration (I set mine to the model of radio) click on configurations, then rename or clone, once you have the configuration, you can open WSJTX, switch to that config, then modify it to the rig settings. easy peasy!

I'm having pretty much the same issue, a few days ago, suddenly TX modulation stopped cold, the radio shows that it is in TX mode, but no power, the SWR level meter and power meters both internal and external show no power, I have since completely removed WSJT-X including config files, and re installed, changed settings etc... also, FLDigi and FLRig still operate as they should.
I am running the current iteration of Ubuntu (19.10 Eoan Ermine)

OS: Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine AMD64
Kenwood TS480HX current next to latest firmware
RT System's USB-serial adapter (for this radio)
attached are the screenshots of the radio and audio settings pages, these are the same settings that worked previously and are the same as FLDigi/FLRig that work correctly.

How about an option for selecting a call for transmission with a single click instead of a double click.

This would help me as I have difficulty with my fingers and possibly other hams with dexterity issues with their hands.

The radio should be in DATA A mode (there are four data modes - you have to select the correct one using the DATA MD button at the lower right corner of the keypad together with the VFO B knob). In DATA A, MIC SEL is set to LINE IN by default. By using DATA A, you don't have to turn compression off or adjust audio levels back and forth between phone and data modes, and you don't need to keep changing MIC SEL every time you change modes. The default filter bandwidth in DATA A is only 500 Hz, so you will have to widen it, which is a simple matter of twiddling the HI CUT and LO CUT knobs to where you want them. The filter setting is remembered.
Once you have put the K3 or K3S (they are functionally the same) into the DATA A submode on each band you use, that will be remembered on each band, and you can configure WSJT-X to use Data mode
Setting audio levels is different in Elecraft rigs from other radios - you need to adjust the audio level so the K3's ALC meter reads 4-5 bars, which indicates the onset of ALC action. Do NOT reduce the audio level to reduce transmitted power; keep the audio level sufficient to produce the required ALC meter reading and use the K3's PWR control to select the desired output power.

IF all the errors were resolved, what modes would you plan to use in WSJT-X ?  I say this because FT8 and FT4 may have changed quite a bit in versions 2.0 of WSJT-x and you will not be able to decode those modes.  I use a Icom 7610 , not with Microham but I have used Microham products in the past and can understand why you may still prefer to use it. let me know if you  need further assistance and perhamps we can sort this out.

There are a couple different ways to get WSJT-X to work with the IC-7610 radio. The most straight forward way is to connect WSJT-X direct to the IC-7610. No need to use HRD as a go between. This article on FB news describes how to set this up. The IC-7610 has it’s own internal sound card. I’d recommend that you use the internal sound card. Get the ICOM USB driver from the ICOM japan site. You don’t need and probably should not use the microHAM interface. It just adds another layer of complication. After you get WSJT-X working, you can link your favorite logging program on the “Settings > Reporting” tab.

Sound Card error.

Any help would be appreciated, I was licensed in the 1970's and was quiet for the last 25 years and now am trying to get back in the Fraternity.  HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Guys! One very good solution to not having enough screen size: add another monitor! Buy a USB to VGA adapter, and a used computer monitor( or new, depending on your wallet ), and put some programs on one monitor, and the other on the other one. Or you can go hog-wild and add 2 monitors( maybe even more! ).

I have N1MM( or N3FJP and JTAlertX ) running on one monitor and WSJTX on the other. Very nice!

First, make sure you are using the most recent version of the microHAM
control/driver software (microHAM USB Device Router).

Second, WSJT 1.9 is severely out of date - you will not be able to work
many of the current modes. I suggest updating to the current version of
WSJT-X. See: https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjtx.html

Sound Card error.
error Opening Headset Microphone (microHAM CO)
Sound card i/o: failed 48kHz & 8kHz giving up
See Logfile for more information
You are using the wrong input of microHAM CODEC. You should be using
*LINE (microHAM CODEC)*. Please refer to the microKEYER Users Manual
chapters "Configuring microHAM CODEC" and "Setting Audio Levels"

Digital Master
Open COMDevice (COM5):
Error Access denied
WSJT 1.9 can not share a serial port with HRD/DM. Again, use WSJT-X
and configure it to use HRD for transceiver control.

WSJT-X
Another instance may be running
Try to remove stale lock file?
yes retry no
*RESTART* your computer.

In addition to the above - you can find example configurations for
HRD and WSJT-X (each on a stand alone basis) in the MK II/MK III
area at www.microHAM-USA.com/Support.html. The MK II Users Manual
is available from the Downloads page at www.microHAM-USA.com.
