6m has been somewhat active the past week or so with many users on MSK144.  I've noticed that the Band Activity window no longer scrolls as I believe it used to do.  It also does not honor the Start New Periods Decodes at Top either, but I don't think that part ever worked, which is no problem if it just scrolled as new decodes appear.  Again this is only apparent in Mode MSK144 as far as I've noticed.

First, your state is FL not DL  (typo I'm sure)

Second, I have seen this same behavior a few times.

I noticed that when I CQ, I have to enter my state in response to an invalid exchange message. It logs ok when I respond to someone.

I do have RU mode set and my exchange is DL.

Anyone experience this?

I thought I found it but no. Suddenly back as it was and the CQ is not shown in the left window. It does get colored green as configured but I do not see the decoded CQ or CQ DX.

What is the ~ for in the left window?

Hi Dave,

for date input into the graphical user interface WSJT-X uses the regional default short form as set in your operating system's localization settings. You can choose whatever you prefer.

Just finished operating for about the last hour and the errror did not pop up, thought it did earlier tonight. Recent changes tonight are: 1) changed the data bit and stop bit settings from 8 and 1 respectively to "default". 2) moved the Rigblaster around a bit on the desk. Insured all cables were snug while I was at it. 3) Updated my JT Alert from 2.15.5 to latest, 2.15.6.

The one you are least likely to misconstrue or enter incorrectly. Personally I always use yyyymmdd (or yyyy-mm-dd) - it is unambiguous, and not only does familiarity with it make reading Cabrillo and ADIF files easier (since they both use this order), but also when interpreted as straight text instead of as a date (e.g. in a file name), it still sorts correctly. But if this one seems too unfamiliar, you might be better off with one you are more comfortable with - preferably one that won't lead to ambiguities like the 04/01/2020 one you started with.

Hi again Bill--

I tried setting rig control to CAT, and got the same behavior as I mentioned before; the rig keys, i hear a tone but nothing actually goes out over the air. I have a speaker connected to my Rig Blaster's "audio out" monitoring jack, so that's where I can hear the tone, and I see the TX red LED on the radio illuminate and hear the relays click on, but no actual modulation occurs over the air. This happens whether I set front or rear for the audio source. I am using a Kenwood TS-480 SAT and a Rigblaster Advantage, so there is a modular cable going from the RB to the radio's mic jack. There is also a specialty serial 9-pin cable I got from West Mountain Radio that connects between the serial port on the Rigblaster and the serial port on the radio. I got this after learning the hard way that a standard serial cable doesn't work. If I recall right, one of the wires has to be flipped, sort of like the old null modem cables/serial adapters of bygone days.

RTS is the only setup that works it seems. Choosing DTR does not key the radio at all. Current settings of my radio screen are attached.  These work....until they don't ;)

Also, if I set flow control to Hardware, I immediately get an error that will not resolve until I change that setting back. It says "Hamlib error: IO error while testing getting current VFO. Also attached.

Thanks again for helping me!

Andy K3NP
