Hi Eli,

you need to reduce the AF Output Level" for the USB audio in the rig's SET menu "SET->Connectors->USB AF/IF Output->AF Output Level". Aim to get 30dB or a little higher on the WSJT-X thermometer style Rx level indicator of a quiet band background noise with the RF gain set to maximum.

I'll try to reload and see if that works.

Another strange issue is that while I have lost the "B4" msg, I now get some of the calls underlined in JTAlertX ?????

Maybe a reload is what is needed.

I am using version 2.15.3, I believe that is the latest release.

Then you may have to reload the JTALERTX software.  You might go back to them and see if they have any other ideas.

locked Timing of end of audio signal generation and PTT release?

Pat Patterson

On 2M I use a Flex 6700 driving a BEKO HLV1000-LDP SSPA from the Flex XVTR port.  I used one of the Flex TX outputs to drive PTT into the Amp.  In the Flex config I’ve added a delay of 60msec  between asserting PTT and generation of RF on the XVTR port.  The amp also has a built in Sequencer that delays application of bias to the LDMOS devices to allow its T/R relay to operate/settle.  It also has a LNA power output that turns off power to the LNA before generating RF.  WSJT-X also allows for adding a delay between assertion of PTT and start of Audio/RF generation.  So, at the start of a XMT sequence everything is orderly.  However, at the end of the TX Sequence the Flex TX port doesn’t have any provisions for killing RF before the PTT lead is dropped (Tail).  The Flex makes RF for about 10 msec after “key-up”…I think most SDR rigs do also.   I don’t see an option to add a delay in WSJT-X to stop Audio/RF generation before PTT is dropped.  Watching the Spectrum Display on the Flex I see a hint of Transmit carryover from TX to RX.  I only see this when running MSK144.  On FT8 or JT65 it isn’t there.  Flex RX config is the same for both modes…AGC Threshold, Bandwidth, Pre-Amp, etc.  The is a burst of signal and a bright red line on the waterfall after a MSK144 TX sequence. Since I don’t see an option to control this timing I’m guessing it’s hard wired in the code.  Are the “end of sequence” timing values to stop generating the audio signal before release of PTT the same in the two modes? FT8 has a structed message of a finite length synchronized to the clock while MSK144 is a series of 144 bit message frames one after the other.  Are there a finite number of MSK144 frames sent per 15sec TX sequence or does a timer just stop the TX loop? Does that timer drop PTT at the same time?  I tried to look at the source and it reminded me why I’m not a programmer!   I can add an external sequencer to manage this but just curious as to the difference between modes.

Thanks/73,

Pat, W5VY

Ron,

I'm running 2.1.2.  When I had FT8 Mode selected, the Freq Table
showed several Modes, but no FT4. I added FT4 myself and it shows
it along with the others, but only 7048 which I know now is incorrect
and I'll change it to 7047.5.

So, I guess when I know all the other confirmed FT4 Freqs I'll add them
to the Table, also.

That will show the correct frequencies in the Frequencies table.  You can then click on the Mode heading and it will sort the modes so that all the FT4 frequencies will be shown.

Are you running 2.1.0?
That will show the correct frequencies in the Frequencies table.  You can then click on the Mode heading and it will sort the modes so that all the FT4 frequencies will be shown.

Group,

I recently tried out FT4. The Mode Frequencies in the WSJTX table doesn't
show any for FT4 like it does for FT8, etc. Scanning 40M, I found FT4 activity
at 7048 and have made quite a few QSOs there.

Does someone have a list of the FT4 freqs on the other Bands that they could
share? I'd rather not have to scan all of them if I don't have to (lazy).

Thanks for that Michael, that's all I need. The next release of WSJT-X will include the patch, the version I have sent you is fine for normal usage until then.
