Guys forgive me if my question is a combination of programs ! I use wsjtx with JT Alert and N3FJP for logging and everything is automated. I make the contact and it logs !!! I am going to operate my (first) Field Day on WSJTX, using our club call sign and have no clue on how to do a proper operation. It is my understanding I have to manually log every contact and the automated process will not work. I would just like to ask if someone has operated FD and give me your suggestion using WSJTX.. Thanks in advance for your help.

To add some context to this he has a sound card speaker jacked plugged into a MIC jack.  So, very easy to overdrive things  (MIC input expecting -60 to -40dBu, line level -10dBu, and speaker level +4dBu).  This is a common reason that operators generate harmonics on rigs that have audio plugged into the mic jack.
The same sound card works fine on his other computer (which I believe is Windows). On the new laptop (Linuix with pulse audio) the signal shows 100Hz wide indicating that it is clipped.  The SignaLink will provide analog control of the audio level which should work on both of his systems.

If overdriving is the issue, 3 resistors can create a 20db audio
attenuator. That may be all you need.

Steve (SK) was a very good lab tech, but he failed to understand that the very wide manufacturing tolerances of ferrite materials make the higher Q NiZn materials #43 and #52 unsuitable for HF chokes. I suspect that he measured only one or two parts of a given part number; I measured nearly 200 of one part, more than 100 of another, and more than 50 of a third. My take those tolerances into account. Steve's do not,
and when I bought 40 of the #52 cores he recommended, measured them all, chose cores at the limits of those I had measured, his recommendations didn't match.

Note that I have worked ONLY on common mode chokes.

The names wsjtx is using are because it is developed using Debian-style

I held a small SW transistor radio tuned for it's 19M band next to coax feeding the antenna and I
hear static until tWSJT-X transmits and then I hear complete silence.
Unless your small SW transistor radi is receiving USB at exactly 14.074 MHz, you may not hear anything, so I suspect that's a red herring.

I'd upgrade hamlib as per Mike W9MDB's instructions and see if that helps.

I don't have an equalizer app installed on the new laptop but I could install one just to confirm that the audio is flat.
I don't know if Linux is as helpful as Windows by adding equalization and echo cancellation, but you should be able to determine if that's the case.

When WSJT-X transmits I see the output device volume control fluctuate so I think sound out is set correctly.
Wait, what's flucuating?  Everything should be constant output, constant power, single tone from the 8 available, etc.  If you can hear it, it's a distrinctive warble, look online for sample sounds.

2. If you are in the US any suggestions on where to order from?
Both questions are answered in the links I posted. RFI-Ham.pdf has
Fair-Rite part numbers for the most useful sized parts and lists a number of vendors. It also includes a table you can fill in to see my suggestions for how many to order based on your on the air activity.

In general, most mainstream industrial electronics vendors stock a variety of Fair-Rite parts. I make most of my small purchases of electronic parts from Arrow Electronics, because they offer free overnight shipping for orders of $50 or more of what's in stock. I've heard that some other vendors have adopted this practice. BTW -- if $50 minimum sounds like a lot, these vendors use FedEx and UPS, and even the smallest shipment is going to set you back $15.

I search these vendors by entering the part number only in the search bar. These are not "onesy-twosy" vendors, but they generally sell at far lower mark-ups than the ones who advertise in QST and CQ. One of them, Amidon, invented fictitious "FT-" part numbers for ferrite cores so that they could sell them for 5X their cost! This rip-off has been going on for decades.

Changed rigs from KX3 using serial USB adapter to K3s with USB radio interface. Before WSJTX worked fine but suddenly the FT8 mode would randomly just switch from audio signal going to K3s via usb to monitor the audio on my Mac 27 inch thunderbolt monitor. Checked for potential timing problems, varied delay, reconfigured audio on the Mac several times and it kept happening on the K3s usb audio but worked fine with KX3. Started checking diagnostic info from WSJTX. Realized it was the program misbehaving latching onto other audio process when the K3s was running though the monitor port on the display monitor. I moved the usb cable to the back port on my Mac Mini and the problem stopped. Apparently the usb bridge in the monitor was introducing enough random delay the program would logically switch to the monitor audio stream depending on what other background tasks the Mac was doing. I know the priority of the USB ports on the Mac motherboard is higher than external bridge and external monitor bridge ports from some work I did several years ago with some USB drivers. I believe this is similar problem depending on the usb hierarchy and how your computer is put together. Probably adding an unique interface names and a timer to let the Wsjtx program hang onto established usb streams longer so as to have them not switch around for lowest latency path would be cool. Just a thought but what do I know ? I am just surmising :-)
