Well Jamie I gave it one more try. Still no connection use hamlib with ACLOG. Surely there is a way otherwise the Kenwood would not be in rig settings of WSJT-x.

I upgraded from 2.5.3 to 2.5.4. When I start 2.5.4, it runs for approximately 15 seconds, then exits. This is on an i7 computer, Win 10 Home, 64 bit.

Any idea what is causing the problem, and more importantly, how to fix it?

Paths perpendicular to the direction the meteors are traveling are best and parallel paths are poor.
Elevation of the shower gradient is best from 0 degrees (shower rise or set) up to about 60 degrees.
It’s tough when the meteors are directly overhead.

The meteors are making ionized trails, which reflect RF. The more meteors, the more reflections, the better the propagation, and hence the faster the QSO can progress.

Hi Dan:

Meteor Scatter (MS) is easy and fun but contacts can take time because you have to wait for the next “rock”. Patience is the watchword. It is common in meteor scatter for QSOs to take 10, 15, 30 minutes or more. Then again, when there are lots of rocks you can have a QSO in a minute or two. Range will max out at about 2500 kilometres, maybe slightly more, due to the altitude of the meteor trail and ionization effects.

If you have a Yagi or directional antenna point towards the meteors rather than directly at the other station. Generally this means pointing towards the east in the AM as meteors are more prevalent at sunrise.

From Vancouver, BC I point my antenna southeast, and this works even for stations that are south and northeast. Everyone points toward the gradient - that point where the meteors are intersecting the Earth’s path orbit.

Kevin

Good Morning Gentlemen,

I am running Monterey on my MacBook Pro M1 pro and version 2.5.4 of WSJTX. You will need to install the latest Silicon Labs drivers. I believe the current version is 6.0.1(approximate version number). Once the drivers are installed you will need to configure them using the Midi Setup app in the Utilities/Other folder which is accessible from Launchpad.
Bare in mind that there is a bug in 2.5.4 where the Transmit audio out is wonky and the setting is reversed so I would recommend using version 2.5.2 until the fix the Qt element in the next version of WSJTX. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. I am using a Yaesu 991A

US tend to do more on 6m / 50mhz and EU tend to do more on 2m / 144mhz (but some are now playing with 6m as well)

There is also Q65 in WSJT-x which has some modes for MS but few people use it yet, mainly used for pre-arranged sessions

I had a similar issue when WSJT-X was set to USB. I changed to D-USB and TX resumed using Win 10.

Hi everyone.  My Yaesu FT-991A has stopped transmitting using FT8.  I have had this problem a few times but it was always cured by doing a full factory reset of the radio.  This time that has not helped.  The radio/MacBook Pro is otherwise working fine.  The radio transmits normal on HF using SSB and AM.  Like I said, I did a full factory reset (and correctly reentered all menu items) and restarted the Mac.

I'm not sure but I suspect it may have something to do with RF in the shack.  I'm using a TON of ferrite everywhere and a shielded CAT cable between radio and Mac with more ferrite.  My antenna is a Chameleon Lightweight End Fed Sloper.  I have never had the slightest problem with RF in the shack with normal SSB phone use.  Digital stuff is new to me so I'm not sure if the threshold for RF in the shack is lower.  I THINK I have noticed the problem of the radio failing to transmit in FT8 with higher power (100 Watts) vs 5 or 10 Watts which leads me to think it could be RF in the shack although my radio and accessories have never been hot with RF to the touch so it's really just a guess.

I reset the radio and computer and dialed the radio down to 5 Watts and still no transmit so I'm stumped.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  BTW, I'm an FT8 (and digital) newb but I have made a number of successful DX contacts on FT8 so the radio and setup WAS working fine.  Thanks!
