Actually, according to https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/1200310/Creating-WSPR-Message-in-Cplusplus you can prepend a space, noting that the third character must be numeric. I hope that's not just for this particular code, but give it a try...

Which hamlib version are you using Gareth? The 4.5~git version has had
a lot of changes, so if you can try the current git version in place of
whatever the Pi currently uses it might behave better.

I started afresh with a new Raspberry Buster image. Then I followed the
instructions at:

https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/wsjtx-doc/wsjtx-main-2.5.4.html#INSTALL_LINUX

executing the following first:

sudo apt install libgfortran5 libqt5widgets5 libqt5network5
libqt5printsupport5 libqt5multimedia5-plugins libqt5serialport5
libqt5sql5-sqlite libfftw3-single3 libgomp1 libboost-all-dev libusb-1.0-0
libportaudio2

then installed the package file:

wget https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/wsjtx_2.5.4_armhf.deb

finally installed it with the command:

sudo dpkg -i wsjtx_2.5.4_armhf.deb

WSJTX-X v.2.5.4 is now installed and running, the schedule box comes up
when I select band hopping but I am having problems configuring it to
connect to my rig.

I'm using exactly the same Radio and Audio settings as I have on my WSJT-X
v.2.4.0 I have running on my Windows 10 PC and I get the following error
when I hit the Test CAT button:

Rig Failure

Hamlib error: Protocol error

The rig I'm using is an mcHF clone which uses the FT-817 command set, so
that's Rig the rig I select Rig: Yaesu FT-817. Serial Port: /dev/ttyACM0,

Method CAT, mode None, Split operation None. Audio settings -
Soundcard Input: plughw:CARD=mchf,DEV=0, Output: plughw:CARD=mchf,DEV=0.
This works fine on version 2.3.0.

I think I'm going to unistall and go back to 2.3.0 as I can live without
scheduled band hopping but it's useless without CAT control.

Try the latest hamlib...I made a change Nov 2021 where the rig's bandwidth is not supposed to change from what the user selects for Icom rigs.
New hamlib for Windows installation directions
#1 Shut down WSJTX/JTDX
#2 Download either the 32-bit or 64-bit DLL matching the 32/64-bit version of WSJTX/JTDX -- hopefully your browser doesn't block it but may warn you multiple times.
If you can do a "Save As" you can save it directly in \WSJT\WSJTX\bin and replace the libhamlib-4.dll that is there.

However, over the Easter weekend, I decided to see if I could see what was going on with the native rig control.
It seems that I had the stop bit set wrong, and after correcting that, I managed to get rig control.

BUT.... with DXLab Commander, everything works as it should, and yet, when I use the native rig control, my radio goes to a narrow filter on TX, and then sets the RX filter to the same setting. If I change band, and set the wide filter, it will change to the narrow filter as soon as I transmit.

Going back to Commander, this behaviour is normal, and works without changing the filter.

I have looked everywhere to see what may be causing the narrow filter to be used, but I cannot see any setting for this in WSJTx. I have tried without JTAlert, and the same issue occurs, so I have to assume that it is something in WSJTx that is causing the narrow filter to be activated.

Has anyone got any thoughts please?

Neal,

Forget WSJT-X for the moment.

On the 991A, go to an ongoing QSO anywhere, SSB, FM, whatever.

Then open the sound control panel. Select the Recording Tab and look for
USB Audio Codec. (I believe that is what it is called)
It looks like this:
If you don't see any activity where I circled in red, don't even bother
starting WSJT-X. The received audio IS NOT getting to the computer.
In each new Windows version OS it's getting harder and harder to find this
control panel. You can start it at any command prompt with mmsys.cpl

I've mentioned this before but got no response.

I just tried this, however my old problems returned. It might just be a
radio setting I have...something unique to me. I'm back to "faking it"
until I figure out why. Thanks all.

New hamlib for Windows installation directions
#1 Shut down WSJTX/JTDX
#2 Download either the 32-bit or 64-bit DLL matching the 32/64-bit version
of WSJTX/JTDX -- hopefully your browser doesn't block it but may warn you
multiple times.
If you can do a "Save As" you can save it directly in \WSJT\WSJTX\bin and
replace the libhamlib-4.dll that is there.

Hello,

I am interested to know about multi-processor support for WSJT-X, particularly Q65. I'm looking to upgrade the Windows 10 x64 PC to something more modern and don't want to install the latest and greatest only to have it not utilized.

Thank you & 73

Make sure all power management is turned off for all (USB, but you might as well do them all) devices. Windows tends to remember everything when any USB (or HDMI, or…) Device goes into or out of power management or sleep state. Right click on each and every (USB or HDMI, Or display) device in device manager, and make sure that the power management is not on.

I suspect microphone sound settings in Windows11. Enhanced sound is off. I appreciate anyone’s help! KC1IBK
