Hi Nico,

You may mix what split means is wsjt-x. It does not mean that you are using different reception and transmission frequencies. Actually that setting is totally independent of that “split frequency” usage on band.
It only means how transmitter frequency is generated. Both Fake It and Rig methods keep transmitter *audio* frequency in range 1500 – 2000 Hz. In the Fake It method rig VFO is tuned to compensate the audio frequency change. In the Rig method two VFOs are used i.e. RX VFO is kept on the reception frequency and TX VFO is moved as needed for compensation.
For “band frequency split” you set RX and TX audio frequencies on different spots and the above happens independently of it pending only on the TX frequency.

fixed the problem!

In the setup menu, the Split Operation was set to "None" (since I do not want to operate in split for digital modes). Set this to the option "Rig" solved the issue with the ooB en 0,000 reading.
Obviously, I do not understand the selectings in this menu but it is working as expected now.

So, WSJTX has been just fine until just recently.  The current version receives fine, decodes incoming signals fine. First time launch, the CQ transmits fine.  Any subsequent transmission keys the rig with no transmit audio. FLDIGI and QSSTV work perfectly. Audio is set (same as FLDIGI & QSSTV) to 'default'.  Versions 2.4.0 and 2.5.0 on Ubuntu 20.04.

Suggestions?

Thanks & 73!

Hi Eric,

increase the "N Avg" spin box value to slow down the scroll speed and leave room for the annotations.

of course that should have been decrease the value to speed up the waterfall scrolling speed.

Yes, I use Omni-rig with Log4om. I think that I have to look deeper into Omni-rig. Kari has a valid point to check for possible Omnig-rig support.

locked Rig control error from Hamlib #Cat_RigControl #macOS #Elecraft

I recently had my shack completely torn down to have basement waterproofing  I disconnected everything, marked all the connectors and put it all away for safekeeping.

Now I have everything set up again, and trying to get it running correctly. It's all going well, RUMlog is working properly, but WSJT-X is another story.

The rig is a 7.5-year old Elecraft K3 and the computer is a MacBook Pro running MacOS 11.6 Big Sur. When I try to start up and run in FT8, the rig immediately goes key-down and I get this Hamlib error:

Rig failure

Hamlib error: Command rejected by the rig

k3.c(1171):k3_set_mode return(-9)

rig_set_mode: targetable retcode after set_mode=-9

rig.c(2200):rig_set_mode return(-9) while setting current VFO mode

Timestamp: 2021-10-12T16:56:20 316Z

In the "Radio" panel in Preferences, the "Test PTT' is red and continuous until the K3 times out with a ERR PTT display.

Under the PTT button, there is this error message:

Attempt to activate the transmitter.

Click again to deactivate. Normally no power should be output since there is no audio being generated at this time. Check that any Tx indication on your radio and/or your radio interface behave as expected.

It's right, there is no power being output, it's just closing the PTT circuit, apparently.

I've checked cables, ports, everything I can think of and can't determine a solution.

Thanks for any help.

Hi John,

The vertical axis is audio frequency. Basically it is waterfall as in FT8, but turned 90 degrees. What you see is a carrier frequency you are receiving. If you change frequency to an FT8 frequency you should see multiple horizontal lines. on a busy band.

Hi Thomas,

the file is not hidden. If you use "Menu->File->Open log directory" you will see the file there. Windows may be hiding the file extension, which can be very confusing. If file extensions are hidden then there will be another column in the directory listing showing the file type, that should show ADI, if it shows as TXT then you have probably saved the file in Notepad.exe or similar which has renamed the file as wsjtx_log.adi.txt , if so you need to get rid of the ".txt" on the end.

I am puzzled by the waterfall display in MSK144.  A line is displayed that seemingly indicates a signal of constant amplitude.  When conditions are quiet I can hear an audio beat note that changes as my receiver frequency is slowly changed.

What puzzles me is that as I vary the frequency of the receiver the line displayed by the waterfall moves up and down.  If the horizontal axis of the display is time and the vertical axis is signal amplitude, the indication is that the audio response of my receiver is not at all flat.  However, the receiver response is set to be over 3 KHz and the audio amplitude from the speaker sounds pretty flat.

The FT897 is set in the VFO mode.
I tried to understand the responce on the spilt / non- split mode and found out that when I select the SPL mode in the FT897 I got the correct behaviour for WSJT. This even when I set the VFO-B completely outside the FT8 range (VFO-B at 7.15 MHZ at TX). It is ok when I press A=B and both VFO's are at the same freq. but I still have to select SPL otherwise WSJT shows "ooB" and 0,000 in red on the freq. display.

Tried a factory reset of the FT897 but still the same results, Works fine in SPL but ooB when in VFO-A mode...
btw, I don't have this issue when driving the FT897 directly without OmniRig,
