Hi John,

If you simply Google "WSJT-X AP decoding" you can click on the first entry, the WSJT-X Guide. In its list of contents, you click on the line "12.1 AP Decoding".

There is described the "a priori" (AP) decoding.

We had a discussion on Pingjockey this morning regarding 'Enable AP' in the decode menu for various modes. It's only mentioned in the manual in the section on JT65, but not explained. I found no explanation here on the group. Could someone offer an explanation of what it is and when it should be used or not?

Thanks!

I suspect the User Guide is a bit ahead of the dev team's posting compiled packages.

Hi John,

Have look on section 12.1. AP Decoding of the User Guide. It improves sensitivity by 2 to 4 dB, see https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/FT4_FT8_QEX.pdf.

Hi Bill, I followed your advice and install Mojave on a separate partition, I actually removed Big Sur as I wanted a stable base build environment and its working perfectly now with the tool chains pulled from Mac ports.
Thank you for your help, I was fitting a lot of errors with installing the tool chain using brew, now I can of course upgrade to latest OS using an external drive initially at some stage.

Thanks for all your help guys very much appreciated.

Hi Mark,

ah OK, yes I forgot about that. You can't build libgcc7, which is a dependency for virtually all of the gcc version builds, on Big Sur. That means that it is not possible to build WSJT-X on Big Sur until we get the refactoring done that works around the issues with newer gfortran versions.

Official WSJT-X builds for macOS are built on Mojave.

Hi Larry,

that's a defect in the WSJT-X User Guide. We stopped providing 32-bit Intel Linux binary packages some time ago as the distributions we target no longer provide operating system updates for 32-bit distributions (Ubuntu and Fedora). You can still build a 32-bit Intel Linux version from sources as far as I know, although I no longer test that capability.

Don't know where you got that URL link, as its not listed on the main WSJT-X page.   All that's there are the 64 bit versions, which may say something about support for 32 bit on Linux.

Good morning Chuck

This came up for moderation this morning, probably because the hashtag was not on the existing list.

There's already too many hashtags and I'd spend some time yesterday removing a few which have recently crept through.

I made a rapid decision to change the hashtag to #GeneralGroupInfo on the basis the rest of the subject make the topic clear. I hope you understand and this is OK with you.

This hashtag has the disadvantage that it's moderator only but the advantage that subsequent discussions will be split into discreet subjects rather than a large unwieldy one.

My apologies if you are not happy with my choice.

Kind regards
Roger

Dave,

I had been running WSJT for about 6 months with a previous Mac Mini using Vox without a radio selected since RUMLog was working so well hosting everything...on occasion I had to restart WSJT to get it to key.....but I cannot remember if it cut out the first line in Tx since I never made a lot of Q's.......I switched out the Mini to a new mini for a number of reasons. I had a lot of trouble setting up everything and decided to "reread the WSJT-X manual" and found that DX Commander was to be utilized using  as a radio would work for CAT control......now that works well except as noted above....I then decided to switch to no radio and use Vox.....in both cases the issue of not transmitting the first line still persits.

I am thinking there is some radio setting causing something not to key the PTT since when I hit the manual switch on the radio, it transmits fine and PTT releases Tx to Rx.....maybe a deeper dive into the 7610 Manual might be in order.....what is strange is the only the first line of TX on either a CQ or calling a station.....subsequent Tx's are fine.....

Thanks for any input

Bob

Oh, absolutely, while Win10 has it's issues, Win7 support ended Jan 14, 2020, so it's no longer an OS our business supports.

But I didn't want to go down the OS rathole, and some people can't or won't upgrade, so I don't even go there any more.  8*)

Not being able to solve the problem I chose a restore point on my Windows 7 pro back to how it was on 20.09.2021 ( most recent restore piint(.
