Dave,
Like the other station, all versions of WSJT-X work directly with my TS-590SG for CAT control, both on Windows 10 and Ubuntu LINUX using the USB cable. I do not use flrig.

Hi -Hi Marty, one reason may be that users who do not have CAT control of their rigs are following our advice to use Tx audio offsets above 1500 Hz. This ensures that any unwanted audio harmonics are greatly attenuated by the rig's Tx IF filter. Of course they can elect to tune their VFO dial down 1 or 1.5 kHz if they wish to get to those lower frequencies. 73 Bill G4WJS.

Simples, you are transmitting an audio tome on an SSB transmitter, the

bandwidth of the SSB transmitter is roughly 300Hz to 3Khz, anything outside that will not be transmitted or severely attenuated. Your receiver has an audio response to fit with the SSB TX response.. OK ?

Hi -
I have been using FT8 for 4 months on 40 & 20 meters and notice that signals bunch between 1 kHz and 2 to 2.5 kHz. Can someone explain to me (or point me at some good write-ups) as to why this happens? Is there some magic going on that I am missing, or is it just herd instinct? I generally try to use 800-950 Hz, and get reasonable results with a QRP rig and compromise antenna. Thanks in advance, 73. Marty KN6OKN

All I use with my 590SG is the USB cable. I start N3FJP first then start WSJT and they talk, control the 590, do a QRZ lookup & log each contact. No DB9 cable used at all and no ARCP software used. Dave KC3AM

I too run just wsjt on Linux to control CAT through USB on my TS590SG. I do not use a separate cable for anything, everything is through USB and I only run wsjt, not any other software.

Hi Tom,
My first Hamradio PC runs also only Win XP prof Sp3. And I have WSJT-x 2.1.0 running perfect. For me no need to have a later version ! I use WSJT-x only for KW. My second Hamradio PC is a raspberry with buster OS. Here I run the latest WSJT-X 2.5.0. This works also OK, in my case only for SAT and MS. Hope I could give you a helping hand, 73, Karl OE3JAG Am 23.09.2021 um 00:11 schrieb Tom Ryan via groups.io:

I tried downloading it onto a flash drive with my Windows 10 machine but all of the needed components won't load onto the flash drive. any suggestions??

Both CAT and WSJTX can be done through the USB port. The DB9 is not needed. I have a TS590-SG and do not use DB9 at all.

I would not be at all surprised if needed components are not available in that ancient OS. I would load W10 or at least W7 (assuming it can be done) on it and Away you go. If not then perhaps make it into a Linux system.
