Well I did try selecting the actual device as well but the effect is the same. Default output works fine. It's gotta be an bug on WSJT-X's end because it works fine on the windows version.

WSJTX has "default" set for both input and output audio. The current devices are set as default and selected in the OS. Playing audio from any other program works as expected. Audio goes in, shows on the waterfall, and decodes fine. Wsjtx just isn't putting out any sound! No sources pop up in pavucontrol when it's in transmit mode either.

Running 'padsp wsjtx' will make the first transmission have audio, but on the next cycle there's no sound again.

CAT is connected and appeares to be working. I can hear it controling the G90. The problem is ALL of my volume controls are completely different than what is shown in that post. I have no Idea what I am doing at this point. I miss Windows XP. I have windows 10 Pro and can not find any of the settings you mention.

Neither the TS2000 nor PowerSDR requires 2 stop bits.

I haven't found a rig yet that doesn't work using all the Default settings.  That's why I added the Default capability to WSJTX to avoid all these "what settings do I use" questions on those items.

No problems here using Ubuntu 18.04 and wsjt-x-2.4.0. But I do not use pulseaudio.

Have you tried setting the TX sound card level in alsamixer? If the level is set to 0 not sure what pulseaudio will make of it.

Colin, I had the same problem after upgrading WSJT-X to 2.4 with my FT817. Unexpectedly I resolved using 38.400 as baud rate instead of 9.600 for CAT, and now I'm using 2.5 beta. I think there is some time-out problem somewhere.

Folks,

Attached is a .pdf file with 4 sources for FT-891 settings. Thank you for your input.

At this point, I still have not been able to make WSJT-X run on the Pi.....so I am concluding this posting....and giving up on the Pi.

I don't believe that the problem lies just in the FT-891 settings. I was able to get a UBUNTU Laptop running nicely using the settings in the last column  in the attached pdf. The Pi problem probably has more to do with Sound Setting in the Raspberry OS or something else that I can't figure out. I tried pavucontrol (Pulse Audio) but had problems (When transmitting the monitor would shut off, no picture).

Again, Thanks to all of you. Good luck with WSJT-X

Hi Colin,

CAT failure and audio device failure when transmitting is almost

certainly due to RFI disrupting the USB connection between your PC and

SCU-17.

Panos,

WSJT-X ships with a test application called message_aggregator, try running that an see if it receives the expected information when you are operating JT65 or JT9 mode. If it does then perhaps the issue lies with  Logger32.

I really dont understand why you have a problem because its working for me with exactly
the same hardware setup.
1: Check you have the latest firmware in the IC-7600 (rev 2.00)
2: Check you have CI-V Output (for ANT) set to ON.

It is working here on any version of WSJT-X regardless of split mode etc,

I really don't want to get this started again, but you're not 'hogging' the band ... you're on different timeslices, and you may actually be seen by the other station if anyone else is trying to call them on 'their' spot,.

I really see no valid reason for two stations to use two different frequencies for one contact.  Isn't that a bit of hogging the band?  Otherwise, one frequency for one contact.   Seems to work quite well for me.

Astute ops move around to avoid QRM.  I move around frequently.  Any time it seems I can't be heard by the other station, I make an calculated move to another spot which I hope is clearer on his end.

If the other station moves, I'll make one more transmission on my frequency.  If not successful, I'll jump to his new frequency, or a clear spot nearby.

I don't find that one has to hop around.   Just let the software do its job.   And from my observations, any station that is moving around is due to the radio drifting.
For 40M I let CAT do its job from the Band/Frequency drop down menu.  It sets the radio to 7.040.00 so let the CAT interface do its job.  Should I wish to call CQ, then I select a frequency, via the software TX Freq Box, that seems clean/clear.   The default is usually 1500 Hz.
I see no reason to make things more complicated.  Works great as it is.  Unless there are operator or radio issues. ?????

Um .. since the system will decode any signal within the bandwidth there's no need to 'follow' the station, just click on the last decode.  You should not be 'following' them to Tx just find a clear space (as far as it appears to you), set Hold Tx Freg, and proceed with answering the CQ call.

As far as 'mousing over' the frequency, I suspect that would create more complexity for a waterfall that's basically only good to find a place to Tx from.

That way I’d be able to know WHO is on 1751Hz for instance.

Just a feature suggestion for Joe and the development crew... If you want to contact a station and have him in your receive frequency window but then he moves it would be really neat to "track him".  I have found a lot of stations that "hop around" and keeping up with them can be a lot of work.
Thanks and keep up the Great work!
