Some of us don't have a keyboard connected all the time.
I am running 3 computers and 2 radios that require keyboards and use a keyboard switch to limit it to
2 keyboards I don't have room for any more and there is usually not one connected to my FT8 computer.
This makes commands requiring and key to be pressed to be a several step operation.
The right click/left click would be better in my opinion.

Version 2.5.0-rc5 here

Left mouse click on waterfall (wide graph) moves RX freq

Shift + left mouse click on waterfall moves TX Freq

CTRL + left mouse click on waterfall moves both RX & TX to same Freq

Hi Ken,

Just in case it's helpful, I had to change the settings on my FT-891 after a firmware update to radio. I'm not running your same setup, but maybe something will be helpful.

BEFORE updating the DSP firmware, I was successful using the settings from KB9VBR (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoYL-7N6eb4&t=4s):
    Menu # / Setting
    5-6 / Cat Rate: 38400
    5-7 / CAT TOT: 1000 msec
    5-8 / CAT RTS: Disable
    8-1 / Data Mode: PSK
8-9 / Data In Select: Rear
8-10 / Data PTT Select: DAKY
    8-11 / Data Out Level: 50
    8-12 / Data BFO: USB
    16-03 / HF Power: 50

AFTER the firmware update (updating the DSP version to 02-04), the waterfall in WJST-X went blank after every TX until I manually changed bands in WJST-X and changed back. A post from Bruce (N7XGR) post, https://wsjtx.groups.io/g/main/message/24422, had the clue that got me working again, and with much better performance: stop using the Data mode and switch to SSB/USB. Making these additional settings changes in the FT-891 got me working again:
11-05 / SSB MIC SELECT: REAR
    11-07 / SSB BFO: USB
16-01 / HF SSB PWR: 50 (and noting that the power setting in 16-03 is the "master" level. Regardless of the setting of 16-01, the FT-891 won't transmit more power than the 16-03 setting.)

And don't forget to change the MIC SELECT and HF SSB POWER back when you're done with WJST-X.

Hope that helps,
Greg N6SE
Hi Greg,

normally with modern Yaesu rigs the menu setting "DATA MODE: OTHERS" is the correct one for general AFSK modes like those in WSJT-X, are you sure "DATA MODE: PSK" is correct?

Hi Bill and Bengt.
My friend experienced the problem with the radio no longer being able to change the band of the SPE Expert 1K-FA, as soon as he updated to WSJT-X 2.4.0 GA, having never experienced it earlier. Toggling CI-V Transceive ON and OFF made no difference. We have the same IC-7600 + SPE Expert 1K-FA setup in our Club Station, and it has worked perfectly for years with CI-V Transceive OFF. So if something re CAT control or polling response was changed in the Hamlib update made for v2.4, there may be something to look into.

There seems to be a number of different versions of cty.dat depending on the logger or modem software you want to update. There's also a similar file available from ClubLog. In my logger I automatically download a new version from ClubLog if my existing file is older than 7 days. I suppose I can do the same with the version of cty.dat that WSJT-X uses, update it regularly. But it would be nice if WSJT-X did this.

From section 11 of the WSJT-X User Guide:

"WSJT-X includes a built-in cty.dat file containing DXCC prefix information. Updated files can be downloaded from the Amateur Radio Country Files web site when required. If an updated and readable cty.dat file is present in the logs folder, it is used in preference to the built-in file."

Most users will probably want this:

He also has versions and instructions for various other software.

If possible would there be a way to set the RX freq with perhaps a left click and the TX freq with a right click of the mouse.
Or something similar.

+ Left clicking sets the RX frequency. Depressing the CTRL key while left clicking sets the TX frequency.

IMO your friend should use this opportunity to politely educate his email senders about updating the CTY file(s) on their computers. It is documented and something that EVERY ham should know. I see regular announcements from AD1C in the support group for my logging software when he releases a new version and I update my logger immediately. WSJT-X (and Fdigi) somewhat less often, but it gets done.

I don't see updating WSJT-X itself as a solution. It will just be out of date again in a month and it is already documented in the manual how to place user supplied update files. And this is not an issue that is unique to WSJT-X by a long stretch. It is up to the operators to keep ALL of his/her software up to date. I wouldn't mind it the WSJT-X team dropped the built in CTY altogether which would force the users to learn about AD1C. But I imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth that would transpire would be a huge headache...
