I found it. It was in Fldigi not WSJT-X.

Thanks everyone. That scared me Bill, thought I was really losing it.

I see this all the time. Remember that popup that asked "Is it OK to allow <incomprehensible> through your firewall, and you said no? That was some subprocess of wsjt, and you should have said yes. No-one but one of the wsjt developers would have recognized it either, so don't feel bad, this kind of thing is inevitable when you use 3rd party 'security' suites.

Those firewalls are pretty useless IMHO, and prone to this kind of false positive, but if they didn't add in all these useless features you might discover their true worth and just use Microsoft's built-in free virus scanner and firewall, and they'd go out of business (plus or minus PT Barnum's infamous "Sucker born every minute").

Not sure if there's a way to look at the blocked programs list and do the successive approximation thing to find the culprit, but we just shut the addon firewalls off. Your Milage Will Vary, and don't mean to start a religious anti-malware flamewar, but that's my recommendation. Double your money back if not satisfied!

Ok.  We solved it!! I did a hail mary and rolled back WSJT-X to version 2.2.0, and it is now working.

SOOOOOOOOOO DEVELOPER TEAM:  It appears that the Kenwood TS-450 library was broken between version 2.2.0 and 2.3.0.

If you want to repair this in the latest beta version (2.5) I'll be happy to test it.

I think the reason I missed this is that I may have inadvertently skipped version 2.3.0.  When I had a problem, I rolled back one version and it did not change.

I'll stick with 2.2.0 until I hear from someone  By the way, this is the 64 bit build.

no need to guess. Unplug the USB connection to the rig, plug it in again, then review the latest messages printed by the dmesg command.
