Tried to connect Xiegu G90 to my computer. I had it working on UBITX and IC-718. But I tried connecting to G90 I don’t have Any DB showing on the DB chart on left and no signals in the waterfall or in the left hand screen next to transmitted messages. I using Ham Radio Deluxe. I tried Xiegu Ce-19 plus the USB cable I got with the radio. I don’t think I am getting a signal from my receive to the computer. I am using windows 10.and WSJT 2.4

Just upgraded to 2.4.0. Using w/N1MM at the moment.

When I click on a CQ with Hold Tx Freq unchecked, the transmit frequency stays wherever it was last set. This was not the previous behavior.  Is there a way to fix the issue so that the Tx Freq follows receive?

Hi Al,

For CQ set both RX and TX frequencies to the same spot using Ctrl+click on waterfall. Tx follows Rx only, when you answer somebody on a Rx frequency by double clicking, I think.

Do you have N1MM+'s WSJT Decode List window open? That window transfers dupe and multiplier information from N1MM+ back to WSJT-X. The dupe/multiplier status is indicated by the background color for the callsign only (not for the entire line) in CQ lines in the WSJT-X Band Activity window. A background color of red behind the callsign means a new multiplier, a background color of blue behind the callsign means a new QSO but not a dupe, and a background color of grey behind the callsign means the contact is a dupe. N1MM+ evaluates dupe/multiplier status for all contacts in the current contest log, regardless of mode, so stations you have worked in other modes on the same band have a grey background. The same information is also displayed directly in the N1MM+ Decode List window.

It's still possible to get a dup if you worked them on phone and logged directly to N1MM as WSJTx does not know about N1MM contacts, it only knows the contacts it made.

Use a Contest Logger, like N1MM (free) or WriteLog (not free). An important thing that they do is keep track of dupes.

I have a Heil Proset 7 headset that I use with my Yaesu FTDX-10. When running WSJT-X with the headset plugged into the front microphone connector. I get spurious side signal indications from the transmit frequency (each side of center) on the Yaesu FTDX-10 waterfall display. Only happens in certain segments of the band location for FT8/FT4. Using in the area above 1500 hz. When I unplug the headset. The signal cleans up to be nice, clean and crisp. Input and output levels are set perfect. i.e. No ALC signal deflection on transmit. Output level set to barely power decrease point. Doesn't matter what power level is being used. Signal input set to 30-35 db range. Radio volume (AF) is turned down to zero (0). Make any sense? One thought I had was, since the Heil Proset 7 is both a Input and output device there might be some signal leakage or other anomaly. Crazy thought I know. Just kind of rambling.

I'm looking for suggestions regarding contest logging. I've read the thread on resetting the Cabrillo log; that's not my problem. What I want is to be able to ignore history prior to the contest, but check for dupes during the contest. Do I need to create new logs? If so, which ones? Thanx much! 73 Don NA6Z

Hi Don,

If you want to run barefoot, then you could use Cabrillo log for logging and wsjtx_log.adi for dupes checking.

You already know how to reset Cabrillo part of the job. The ignoring of the history happens by renaming the wsjtx_log.adi file (so that it will be available after the contest), closing wsjt-x and opening it. At that point wsjt-x cannot find a wsjtx_log.adi and so there is no history stored into the program memory. When you log the first contact, then wsjt-x generates a new wsjtx_log.adi.

After the contest you may combine the renamed wsjtx_log.adi and the one used during the contest using any text editor and save it as wsjtx_log.adi. During combination you need to left out from the contest adi file the header information. The combination is needed, if you wish to see in your everyday history also contacts you made during the contest.

N1MM Plus and WriteLog interoperate with WSJT-X. N1MM is by far the most
popular and is free. I started out with WriteLog, switched to N1MM in
2008 and have not looked back. I don't know of any other CONTEST loggers
that interoperate with WSJT-X. Expect a learning curve.

Super fast and dirty way:

Start WSJT with “-r contest” or whatever else is meaningful to you after that -r so WSJT spawns a fresh setup for another rig.

You’ll get a fresh configuration. When you’re all done and logged, nuke the config from orbit until the next contest.

Jim, thanks for reminding us of JTDX.

I am a long-time user of WSJT-X since it appeared and I do like it. Recently I heard from other 6m DXers that they heard more DX with JTDX than me. Then I benchmarked the latest versions of WSJT-X (V2.4.0) and JTDX (V2.2.0) for FT8 performance. My PC should be no limitation due to plenty of compute power and memory. On 6m and ES DX conditions I found that substantially more weak (< -18dB) signals were decoded by JTDX than by WSJT. On the other hand on 20m on a very crowded band JTDX gave me between 45 and 50 decoded signals whereas WSJT rarely yielded 30 signals. This indicates that JTDX is indeed better optimised to decode weak or disturbed FT8 signals than WSJT-X.

I would like to invite others including the WSJT developers to try JTDX. I hope that the FT8 performance of WSJT can be improved further. It is nice to see new modes such as Q65 appearing but FT8 is the mainstream and should be kept competitive as well. JTDX installations can co-exist with WSJT-X and even run in parallel.

locked Map65 3.0 some presentation issues #map65

A couple notes about how Map65 3.0 presents information.
In "Time Hack.png" the time hack for sequences between the top of the hour and 10 mins after the hour is missing a leading zero on the minutes.

In "Messages1.png" presentation of DF is not calculated right.  I would think that DF should always be between -500 and +500
In "Messages3.png" after selecting 070 and decoding there the correct DF of 070 +65 is shown in the main decode window.  If I then move off of 070 and decode again, both outcomes are presented in the Messages window.

In "Messages2.png" shows what happens if the Messages window is narrowed to save screen real estate.  The colons roll over to the next line, wasting a line and visually confusing.  Do we really need the colon at the end of a line ?

Finally, if Tol is set to 1000, Map65 crashes on decode with "Subprocess failed with Exit code 2"  It is a Fortran runtime error.  I can't copy and paste it, but you should be able to reproduce it easily.
