Hi Mark,

please try with "Settings->General->Allow Tx frequency changes while transmitting" unchecked and report back if the frequency walking issue ceases please?

Mark, I am trying to diagnose the issue, I don't have an FTdx3000 I can use to discover what is going on. Once the issue is narrowed down then we can look at a fix, probably in Hamlib. Please do not call this a bug, you can only do that if you can also show the defective source code, until then it is just an issue that needs investigating.

Bill,

The problem with fake-it is eventually the rig wanders - meaning it will fail to return to the base frequency and instead stays at the fake-it frequency. For example, on 20 meter the rig is listening to 14.074 and transmitting on 14.075. After some time, the rig does not fall back to 14.074 after the transmit cycle, so now it's listening at 14.075 and transmitting at 14.076.

I can make my rig available for testing new hamlib code. I don't think the answer should be to just use fake-it. I have been using 'rig' for years with WSJT-X and am willing to help y'all fix it.

Hi Mark,

refresh my memory on your PTT setup please? Also do you have the "Settings->General->Allow Tx frequency changes while transmitting" option unchecked? Frequency walking when using Fake It split mode is usually a basic configuration issue.

This bug was introduced in 2.4.0 GA and was not present in 2.4.0 RC4 - so it should be relatively easy to find and squash

locked WSJT Decode issue #FT8

Rich

Hi,I have trouble at time on FT-8 where it stops decoding.I was told to get a better clock as I was using Windows.I use Dimension and it improved quite a biit. But if I adjust my sound card levels or turn the tuning  dial sometimes it stops decoding. Most times my clock is dead on.At most it is .02s off but big improvement from 2-3secs from when I was using Windows. Also if I have FT-8 open and move to my logger or another program it causes an issue. The only thing that helps is to close and reopen FT8.

installed on MacBook Pro running ubuntu 20.04.  Had 18.04 on it and wsjt worked fine.  Upgraded computer to 20.04 and then upgraded wsjt to 2.4.0 for Q65 mode and everything appears to work until the boost exception.

thanks for the work on a great program. Had a qso at 1watt and 100 MW on the other end on 80 m with lots of QRN on Q65.  Ft8 wouldn’t connect.  580km apart midday.  Q65 first call.

locked WSJT Sensitivity V MSHV #why ?

Derek Brown

On 6m this evening, monitoring using WSJT-X 2.4 on FT8, noticed a lot of G Calls working stateside, but I could not "see " the Stateside calls in the waterfall or decoded ? So I swopped to MSHV and lo and behold, I am seeing US Calls decoded and both sides of the various QSO's, not really noticed this before, but is MSHV that more sensitive than WSJT-X or have I just got a few settings wrong ?

I prefer to use WSJT-X as it has a well defined working interface, whereas MSHV does not seem so "automatic" or again is there something I have overlooked ?

Help !

You can do it with a text editor or the free ADIF Master program.

Hi Tony,

the wsjtx.log file is output only from WSJT-X, unless you particularly need it to be complete I would not bother to update it.

  1. Can you control your radio using the HRD Radio Control Panel?  If not, solve this problem first.
  2. In the WSJT-X program go to Settings > Radio and make sure you have selected Ham Radio Deluxe as the “Rig”.

Information on your type of radio would be helpful, along with your name and call-sign

Hi Alan,
I've run an IC7600 with WSJT-X for many years. If you have your rig connected to your PC for CAT, then you you are home and dry. Just run WSJT-X and set the "Radio" connection as in the attachment. Then set the "audio" as shown in the second attachment. You only need the one USB CAT cable.

Again, lack of high SWR does not mean you can’t have RFI.  You need to look at your grounding and shielding, as well as how close your antenna(s) are to the shack.

Some other sites suggest this type of fault can occur if FLrig doesn’t return a string when a string is expected.

OK, thanks!  Think the program and radio now setup correctly!  When I change to the USB-data it did modulate, now Im left with figuring out how the rf is getting into computer!  But I think the program and radio properly setup.

Thank you!

Tim,

you should be using USB-DATA mode with WSJT-X, the DATA MOD settings on your rig (DATA1 MOD on the IC-7600) affect that and do not affect the DATA OFF settings with apply to normal USB usage. Check the "Settings->Radio->Mode->Data/Pkt" option is WSJT-X to have it automatically select USB-DATA mode on your rig.
