Hi Bill,

don't do that, you will end up with an enormous file on your Desktop. Also don't touch the main WSJT-X.ini file, that's the settings for the application and is managed from the GUI, the log configuration file is separate and only for diagnostic purposes. There are some sample log configuration files in the installation directory (C:\WSJT\wsjtx\share\doc\wsjtx\example_log_configurations\) if and when you need them. With no log configuration file in place the log entries go to the file wsjtx_syslog.log in your WSJT-X log files directory and size is managed automatically by rotating the file monthly or if it gets too big. Use specific log configuration files for specific issues, the default logging will record warnings and errors without you needing to do anything.

If you're running a IC-705 and WSJT-X on a Raspberry, it's done automatically from the built in GPS.
David - does this only work with a ic-705? Can you give a quick write-up of your code?

Thank you.

Hi Jamie.
I do have a FT991A and plan on using it in the near future for digital stuff (I have periodically done so) and I know that 2 comports are generated after loading the CP210x drivers..
But right now I am working with the TS-590s. Only 1 comport is generated (in my case Com3)
So. Ok now.... Which Comport did you split? And which comport did you assign to WSJT-X and ACLog... AND HOW about JTAlert.? ..
I understand one can connect it to WSJT-X to make a bridge to ACLog
I have loaded JTAlert in the past but found it a bit cumbersome... Maybe the newer version will get, my attention I am going to check it out. Ok.. Question of the DAY: You said you "did" use it...
Does that mean you no longer use the configuration? WHY did you discontinue use the configurations.?

Hi Bill,

I sent you an email regarding UDP msg 11 not working.
I just looked at the WSJT-X settings page and noticed the "AutoGrid" check box.
I did not have that checked. As soon as I checked it, my function worked perfectly.
Please disregard my previous email.

I would suggest that you highlight that functionality and requirement in your help
manual as that information is missing.

Best regards,

Sam W2JDB

Lance,

that capability is already in WSJT-X insofar that it has a message in
its UDP protocol than can update the local gridsquare. I'm not sure if
anyone has made use of that facility to interface with a navigation
system yet.

If you're running a IC-705 and WSJT-X on a Raspberry, it's done automatically from the built in GPS. There's also a feature to use a cheap GPS dongle connected to the Raspberry to get accurate time and grip. Check out KM4ACK channel on youtube for more info.

Hi Mike, I did use VSPE and Omnirig with WSJT-X, JTALERT and AC Log for a long time with great success. I was able to have both WSJT-X and AC Log both follow and control my FT 991A. Easy to jump from Digital to phone modes and log quickly!

Hi William,

which version of WSJT-X are you using?

So I can see what is happening, put the attached file in your WSJT-X configuration files directory (on MS Windows that is the same as the log files directory "Menu->File->Open log directory"), restart WSJT-X, and carry out he minimum test that reproduces the issue, then quit WSJT-X. It will have created a file on your Desktop called WSJT-X_RigControl.log, send me (g4wjs <at> classdesign <dot> com) that file for analysis please?

Once you have sent the log file you can delete it and the log configuration file to return to normal operation.

I was pleased to see that the above file includes the gridsquares for both MY location and the other stations's location ;-) I am about to start a month-long road trip across the country, and hope to be active on 6m from many different gridsquares. Having both these gridsquares in wsjtx_log.adi will really help keep track of where I was when I made the contacts. That assumes that I remember to update the grid in WSJT-X's FILE/SETTINGS/GENERAL page every time I drive into a new gridsquare!

I can imagine that FT8 rovers during contests and FFMA grid activators would also appreciate it if there were some option in WSJT-X to have "My Grid" be updated automatically from some other program, or directly from a GPS puck attached to another USB port... Just dreaming ;-)

I'd like to see a "Recommended" FT4 Frequency added to 160m.  A substantial amount of Contesting takes place on 160m. during the winter months so FT4 should be allowed to join the mix.  FT4 occupies a lot less frequency than SSB.

Sending JT9 messages from a single command line in Linux

Hello,

Does anyone have experience sending JT9 messages from a single command in Linux?

I would like to transmit JT9 messages containing weather observations from a Raspberry Pi using the TAPR WSPR hat for the Raspberry PI. My understanding is that the hat amplifies and filters software generated signals from the PI, and these may be other digital modes in addition to WSPR.

Thank you,
