Does this happen on all bands?
Do you have a proper ground or a counterpose attached to your antenna?

Q65 in MAP65 #map65

Joe

Many of you have been using WSJT-X 2.4.0-rc4 to test the new mode Q65 on the EME path. Especially on the bands 144, 432, and 1296 MHz, we know that some users would like also to be able to use MAP65 for Q65. Here's a brief update on the development status of Q65 in MAP65.

I have now used my development version of MAP65 v2.9.0 to run through 46 one-minute recordings (saved *.tf2 files) obtained by Conrad, PA5Y, on February 20. There was plenty of 144 MHz EME activity on this day, including many signals in submodes JT65B and Q65-60A. This test version of MAP65 2.9.0 decodes essentially all signals visible on the waterfall, in both modes. The decodes include 161 Q6560A transmissions and 138 JT65B transmissions. (For JT65 this count omits the shorthand messages RO, RRR, and 73.) The attached file Decodes_at_PA5Y.txt was extracted from the file map65_rx.log produced from Conrad's files.

A good feeling for the behavior of Q65 in the present MAP65 2.9.0 can be obtained from the following document that describes the use QRA64 as implemented in MAP65 v2.7 and v2.8.

https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/MAP65_Quick_Start.pdf

Except for the comments about "Sync Markers", you can pretty much replace "QRA64" with "Q65-60A" everywhere in this brief write-up, and get a feeling for how Q65 works in this early version of MAP65 2.9.0.

You might also want to look at the MAP65 User's Guide:

https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/MAP65_Users_Guide.pdf

Further work remains to be done on MAP65 v2.9.0, but we hope to be able to make a test version available to interested testers in the near future.

In the longer term, we are exploring possible ways to bring MAP65 capabilities including wide bandwidths and polarization diversity into WSJT-X.

Hi All,

A new version of the AllText.exe (ver 1.0.1.44) has been uploaded to https://groups.io/g/ProgramsByW2JDB
This new version now includes the ability to append ADIF records from one ADI file to any other.
Multiple runs using  the same files or any other source file will NOT produce any duplicate entries.

As I have seen a few threads regarding adi files merge questions.
I am just finishing an enhancement to my Alltext.exe program to facilitate
appending ADIF records from one adi file to another. The program
will take care so that no duplicates will exists in the destination file no matter
how many times the same files are used. Should be ready before the weekend.

Hi Radi,
Just use any text editor such as Notepad. You need to open using that text editor program as you got Adifmaster installed. Cut and paste or copy and paste as appropriate from one log file to another one. Save the result so that Windows don’t add .txt to the filename or remove .txt by renaming the combined file.
Remember to check that you have only a single header (or none) at the beginning of the file.
Of course that method may be more complicated, if the QSOs you want amend are distributed all over the source file.
I think that also adif generate by the Adifmaster will be ok. You may take copies of the adif files and experiment by those.

Hi Carl,
Thanks for the response. You said ADIF Master is not needed. But then which application to use to open the wsjt_log.adi , cut QSOs from certain date blocks and create two new .adi files, one containing remaining QSOs and other cut and pasted QSO groups.
Now, Windows opens the log with ADIF Master as default application, but I am not sure that if I save logs from ADIF Master if the resulting logs would be legitimate for wsjtx !
Please clarify.

It should stay on whatever frequency you put it on - UNLESS you cause it to move by clicking on the waterfall, (control click, etc.)  By the way, you should not be transmitting and receiving on the same frequency normally.  Choose a clear frequency and stay there.  Double clicking on the waterfall should move only the green receive frequency, leaving your transmitter on the clear spot you put it on.

Re: Tx Rx frequency changes #FT8 #transmit #Cat_RigControl

Hi Niel...yes, the Red bracket and the Green bracket line up at whatever frequency I decide to use, using the double-click on the waterfall...I shut off Auto Seq, and the "Locked Tx-Rx" is colored creme, and the Gen Msg is my CQ, clicked on. When I transmit the freq goes back to the last contact frequency.

The HOLD TX FREQ checkbox is NOT working?   That's not right, as it has worked fine in every version of WSJT-X since its introduction.

We ARE talking about the RED bracket that seen in the waterfall, right?   What WSJT-X mode are you using?

There’s a checkbox to hold your Tx frequency.

I pick a spot in the waterfall and double click ctrl, the red/green brackets move, the frequency shows in the appropriate boxes, I put out a CQ and the frequencies shift back to the one from the last contact showing in the right hand window...Have I forgotten to check something somewhere? Or is this a program bug?

Hi Phil,

It’s because if you have worked the DXCC or station before it will be one of the other colours. If none of those is selected it will colour in the default CQ. The implication is then that you have worked the station before on the current band. As long as you have the priority set correctly of course, and that is how you order the list.

I don’t use JTAlert, I was just using B4 in place of before. Before my wsjtx crash, when I worked a station calling CQ, it was stored in the .adi file. The next time that station called CQ it showed up in a colour that I had chosen in the decode colour settings telling me I had worked them before. Now I can not see an obvious colour decode setting that says “worked before “. The only colour setting with CQ in it I can see is just the general CQ calling.

Another confusion about JTAlert is having to move that 'Calling CQ'

JTAlert has both an explicit "B4" (Settings -> Alerts -> Worked B4)
and and CQ (Settings -> Alerts -> CQ) alert/colors. The B4 overrides
all other alerts.

Correction ... its not the B4, but the Calling CQ color bar. Slight confusion with JTAlert terminology.

See the Settings -> Colors tab and adjust the color as necessary. Make sure that B4 is in the highest position this way other color alerts won't take priority. For example: you're looking for a country, you made the contact previously but still have not gotten a confirmation.   The station you contacted comes up again.   You want the B4 color to show, not the wanted country.

Hi, no, the wsjtx log.adi file is still intact, I didn’t have to wipe and reload the drive. How do I set up the B4 colour?
