As one of the developers has told you several times -
*THERE IS NO B4 COLOR IN WSJTX*.

I have gone back to version 2 and checked - there is no B4 color in
any version 2, version 3 *or* version 4 (-RC#) level of WSJTX. The
lowest priority color is a general CQ ... it a station does not
qualify as "new" (e.g. "New Call" or "New Call on Band") they will
color with the "CQ in Message" color.

The only way to get an explicit "B4" color (on all transmissions -
not just CQ) is to use JT Alert and allow it to forward colors to
WSJTX.

There is no PTT from WSJTX with Signalink! Signalink is an
audio card with built-in VOX. Use the "VOX" setting in
WSJTX.

Pete,

the SignaLink USB is not a CAT interface, if you do not have a separate CAT interface between your rig and PC then you must select "Settings->Radio->None" in WSJT-X. Use the "Tune" button on the main window to test you SignaLink USB audio and PTT function.

Another confusion about JTAlert is having to move that 'Calling CQ' color bar.   Not necessary, just have it checked in the color list.    However that's the one you can change the foreground and background colors on to make it stand out (IE:  white foreground, black background).

(I need to quit replying in the middle of the night).

The others are:  that you're not on a 'normal' FT8/FT4 frequency for that band; WSJT-X locks them out.    And that you'll only see the HOUND stations replying on the ODDs only, and the FOX only calling CQ and giving responses on the EVEN.

Re: #fst4 packtext77 / mp_short_ops subroutines #FST4

Thank Joe and Steve.
My language of choice,  PowerBasic, has a number of commands that make life a bit easier for that sort of thing.  Not having to worry about endian matters it turned out, after a bit of playing around with pen and paper as to how we actually DO long multiplication, as a nice elegant bit of code

This routine takes in two byte values A and B and calculates the sum
C = C * A + B.   C is expressed as a string of '1's and '0's . A and B can be 0 - 255.   Basic and all its derivatives does string handling very well, so I use this method to handle long binary words rather than Fortran's and C's use of arrays
The BIN$(number) and  VAL("&B" & string$) handle the conversions to and from numbers

Variables without an identifier type are 32 bit integer, $ means string, and ? means a byte variable.    This being able to allocate variable types on the fly is why I prefer Basic over other programming languages.   However, after many hours of poring over Fortran 90 listings, I've gained a great appreciation of that language too.
Don't like C - horrible language.

SUB LongMac(a? , b? , c$)       'C = C * A + B    C represented by string of '1/0's
    nb = LEN(c$)/8                        'nb = Number of bytes, LEN(c$) must be a multiple of 8
    acc = b?
    FOR z = nb TO 1 STEP -1
        acc = acc + a? * VAL("&B" & MID$(c$, z * 8 - 7 , 8))    'get the next byte into accumulator, starting at lowest
        MID$(c$, z * 8 - 7 , 8) = BIN$(acc AND &hFF, 8)     'Replace lowest byte
        SHIFT RIGHT acc, 8                                  'Place MSBs ready for adding in next byte
    NEXT z
END SUB

The HOLD TX FREQ checkbox is NOT working?   That's not right, as it has worked fine in every version of WSJT-X since its introduction.

We ARE talking about the RED bracket that seen in the waterfall, right?   What WSJT-X mode are you using?

After I installed 2.3.1, I noticed that when first opening WSJT-X or switching bands and initiating a call, I have no transmitter output.  Within this first Tx cycle, if I immediately select "halt" and then Tx enable, the transmit output is fine.  If I let it complete the first cycle (with no output) it will operate normally next transmit cycle. I have since installed WSJT-X 2.4.0-rc4 with the same results.
