I can live with that mitigation for now since I will be using it for rare 6m openings. If the band opens, I then get the alarm that warns me and then leave the kitchen/TV and go to the PC.

Its up to the ADIF committee.   Based on this quote from the Q65 Quick Start guide, I suspect it will be a 'mode & submode' entry about the same as QRA64

Do you have it setup with a logger, or a log file?    If so, have you done a rescan of the log so JT-Alert can pick up the already worked entities?  Did you turn on the alerts and assign a .wav file to each one?

There is some setup needed to make it work properly.

I tested both Gridtracker and JTalert. Gridtracker would not sound on decodes.

Now JTalert is in interesting cookie.... Although I see JTalert working correctly (tons of activity on screen) and setting up audio alarms on "Own Call" or any "Decode" it still won't sound my selected wav file on valid decodes. Any decode.

I will keep testing but for now I really hope coders (that was my initial suggestion) will cut and paste existing JTDX code into WSJT-X. I am only using WSJT for 6m Q65 and MSK144 modes. I don't care for the rest. I feel JTDX has much more sensitive decoders and is more tailored for operators. Less for kludge inclined addon lovers.

I don't seem to be able to get it behaving - I either get the Tx audio coming out the LapTop speakers or none at all.

Also Linux keeps changing the system sound to use the Radio devices each time I plug them in.

When this has occurred for me is when I change bands while receiving, just using the band selector dropdown in the lower left below the received station window.  The radio changes bands but when I attempt to TX there's no audio.  The "halt/enable" fix that others have mentioned has not worked for me.  I have to go into "CQ" operation then halt/enable one or two times before audio goes through.

Hi,

Could you provide more details how exactly you change bands to get that happen?

Do you change it during receiving timeslot or during transmit timeslot? Transmission should stop (Enable Tx goes off), if band is changed in the middle of transmission! I am interested to repeat it, but not managed by now.

Thanks Dan. Yes I noticed the "CQ" alarm toggle. Like I said I have not given up on JTalert yet. It looks promising. I will investigate at depth later on.

I am almost tempted (since I am a SocketWrench library / VB 6 programmer) to intercept the loopback UDP messages (message 12 I believe) and see what is going on in there and coding my own little kludge to do it.

I promise I will post if I find a way to do this with JTalert

It seems that this isn't a problem with running two instances of WSJT-X V2.4.0-rc1, it seems to be another example of the JT4 decoding bug.  I had selected JT4 as, although this is the display of the CW signal from GB3MHZ which only sends CW, I wanted to then swing the beam round to try and decode GB3NGI or GB3CSG which both transmit JT4g but are not always decoded here.  So, I use GB3MHZ as my 'is the radio working and is the antenna still connected' test.

I'm trying to set up two instances of WSJT-X (V2.4.0-rc1) to monitor the Main and Sub bands on my IC-9700.

I have set up the 9700 to output both channels of audio to the USB port and have used the 'rig-name=' setting in the shortcut Target box to set up one instance for the Main and another for the Sub channels.  In Settings>Audio I have used the 'Input Audio' Left and Rich channels to set Main on left and Sub on right.  In Settings>Radio I have set up the Main to control the radio and CAT works. For the Sub I set Radio to 'None'.  I have noticed a problem when selecting the Sub display to adjust the frequency, that the CAT on the Main instance takes control of the Sub and moves away from the band in the Main display and goes to the Sub frequency.  I assume that's an issue in the CAT commands in the IC-9700?

However, my real problem is that a few seconds to a minute after starting both instances of WSJT-X I get a runtime error on the second, Sub, instance which says "Subprocess Error. Michael-

in JT alert go to settings/alerts. there you can choose the alerts. for audio, goto the bottom of the page, select the alert sound, adjust desired volume. don't forget to download the alert audio files.

The alert that will give you the most alerts is CQ. you will get an alert every CQ that gets decoded. However be prepared for lots of alerts especially on busy bands. I myself have this one shut off, as it drove me crazy.

The other alerts will look at your log and see if that call is needed for the variations such as wanted dxcc, or wanted grid , then sound an alert as appropriate. Each can be a different sound.

I also don't use colors, I have a hard time remembering what each represents, and you have to be looking at the screen.
