You will find Tab 2 info in the Users Guide under Fox operations.  In the guide it may still be called Tab 3.  Tab 2 was eliminated with this version as it was not stable in the previous couple of releases and served no real purpose.

I would hope to see Tab 2 disappear completely unless you are operating as a FOX on a DXPedition.  Would save a lot of confusion.

This problem has been driving us nuts. If someone could take a good look at this and make suggestions, we would really appreciate it.  de Hasan N0AN for KB7IJ , Rich with the 7300.  Thanks!

Start:

IC7300 with RX/TX breakout connectors on rear panel.   On that panel I have a T on the ANT OUT  with one leg going to a “ USB dongle”, currently a Funcube Pro + ,  and other leg going back to ANT IN on 7300.

Software players are:
SDR Console V3
Omni Rig 1.19
WSJT-X 2.4.0 RC1
Icom USB drivers 1.3 ( silicon Labs CP210x  dated 20 JUN 2019 )

Hardware is Funcube Pro+ and an Icom 7300 ( firmware 1.3 ).
PC is a AMD Ryzen 9 3900 12 core with 32gb ram

OK.  clean desktop,  power up 7300.   Then WSJTX with these settings.

Everything works perfectly.   Audio is from the USB audio CODEC in the Icom WIN drivers over the USB connection from Rig to PC.

Now.   Lets open SDR CONSOLE V3.  ( remember  WSJTX is still running )

then select Funcube abd START....
Next go to External Radio and press START...

totally locked up and only way out is via Device Manager and END TASK.

OK, lets do that now and restart without WSJTX running and go back into SDRC ...

SDRC start.. select Funcube..Start..Ext Radio ..start, select Rig 1, REFRESH, and lastly hit TRACK...

RX,ing on Funcube, with full CAT to 7300.  Again.. this is WITHOUT WSJTX running.

Now, with a smoothly running SDRC/7300 combo.. if I were to start WSJTX, ( with the settings noted above) it would immediately throw a RIG CONTROL ERROR and refuse to work.

In synopsis.. I can run WSJTX   __OR__   SDRC but not both Using OmniRig and trying for full CAT between all devices.

I CAN use SDRC, WSJTX and a Kwd TS2000  all at once and have full CAT/PTT between all players.

So, tour complete.  Cookies and lemonade in the back of the room.  Thanks for coming by.

Cheers

Joe, I don't want to bog the DXLab list down with this, because he can't even get things to run without DXLab

If you have time and the inclination and could look at this info, maybe you can see where he is doing something wrong?

The odd thing is the exact same setup works here with a TS-2000 and there with a TS-2000, but as soon as he tries to use the 7300 Icom, you can see the results below.

TIA, 73,

Dave,
It turns out his problems are deeper than DXCommander, he can't even get the following programs to cooperate, without DXC.

Since it no longer involves DXC, but appears to be a WSJT-X > SDRC > OmniRig > IC-7300 problem, I won't trouble the list with any more details. I have a long explanation with pictures and settings, but that has no place on this list.

Without the details, this is where he is stuck and I'll leave it at that. Thanks for trying to help:

I made up a seperate shortcut to launch WSJT-X in 'Dark' mode from the instructions I found at

http://gm6nx.com/?p=1281

Now I can launch either syle of display that I fancy using.

Hope it helps - Dave (G0DJA)

Hi Bob,

if you are on MS Windows you can modify the shortcut to add the necessary parameters.

Hi Jon,

put the attached file into your WSJT-X log files directory ("Menu->File->Open log directory") to enable auto power on if your rig supports it.

Hi Larry,

If I work with "Hold Tx Freq" deselected, my Tx frequency is on the frequency of the station I worked before.
If I return to the caller, I "overtake" the receiving frequency of my prevous QSO-partner. What is better from "ham-spirit" point of view?  To risk receiving "PSE QSY" or loose a caller?
I suggest to review this "implicit Hold-Tx" function. JTDX team did it.

Hi Geza,

If a station calls you, you know they are hearing you.  Why would you want to then move your TX frequency to their frequency and possibly have the caller loose you?

If I want work in split mode, I select "Hold Tx Freq". If not, I deselect it. Deselecting means "keep Tx and Rx-frequency  together". The  current behavior is inconsistent and contradicts the setting  If I click on a station CQ-calling, the Tx-frequency jumps to the station, if I click on a station calling me, it does not jump.

locked FT8/FT4 Signal Reports in upload to eQSL.cc #logging

Don Bolstad K9DEB

Until just recently I was running an old Windows 8 laptop that could not be upgraded. Thus I was running older version of WSJT-X and JTAlert.

I now have a new Windows 10  computer, loaded with the latest versions of WSJT-X (v2.2.2) and JTAlert (v2.16.17).  Noticed that now when a QSO is logged, the upload to eQSL.cc no longer includes the signal reports added to the comment field of the eQSL record  (like FT8  Sent: -19  Rcvd: -07).  the QSO record in ACL log does contain the signal report in the comments field, as in the past.

I could not find a setting in either WSJT-X or JTAlert that puts the signal report (ie. FT8  Sent: -19  Rcvd: -07) in the eQSL.. record.  Has this feature been removed?  Of where is the setting to allow this?

For what it's worth, I like the hashtags; there are many topics on this list that I don't care about and these hashtags provide a fast way of visually skimming these threads. And, despite what has been written on this, most lists and forums that I use that aren't amateur radio-related do use tags and hashtags.

Another point: the list owner isn't one of the WSJT-X developers (please correct me if I'm wrong) but this list is frequently used by the developers, who are programmers and are likely used to higher degree of topic organization and identification than has existed here in the past. I don't think it's too much of an imposition on the user-base to help them keep things organized and the griping about the use of organization tools such as hashtags on the basis of resembling "social media" is churlish and ignores where these symbols actually originated - programming and related activities. Many, if not most, open-source projects such as this use code repositories such as Github as the primary means of interacting with the developers and these are much, much less user-friendly than this list, even with the dreaded hashtags.

There is a field set aside for just that purpose. It is called SUBJECT: and is supposed to contain the info you are suggesting the hashtag is there to provide.

What’s wrong with this picture? Pretty repetitious sounding to me.

You can be sure, that nobody starts CQ on a frequency which is not free from the location he works.
On a crowded band often you will not find a completely clear spot and the best that you can do is pick an even or odd slot that is free. That is acceptable. This is time division multiplexing and not all that different than operating a SSB or CW split pileup. Developers who are way smarter than I am by leaps and bounds have put a lot of thought into creating a system to allow lots of ops to make contacts in a small sliver of the band. I think they did a pretty good job.

You can never be sure (at least on the upper bands) that a frequency, which is free at your location, also free at the location of the other station.
Such is the way of things in whatever mode you use. You can't live your ham career fretting over QRMing someone that you can't hear.
