Hi Kevin,

Ok on the unplugged CAT cable, you did say you wanted a quick fix, hi! Some rigs are tolerant of the wrong number of stop bits.

Glad you are back up and running.

I had no clue those settings were wrong.  The I have used “1” stop-bit for ever it seems for 9600 and 38400.  Handshake I always have as none.  I think I got that from N1MM recommended settings.

Hi Kevin,

so I can see what is happening; put the attached file into your WSJT-X configuration files directory (on MS Windows that is the same as the log files directory "Menu->File->Open log directory"), then restart WSJT-X, do the minimum steps to reproduce the issue, then quit WSJT-X. You will have a new file on your Desktop called WSJT-X_RigControl.log, send me that file for analysis please (g4wjs <at> classdesign <dot> com) ?

You can delete the log file and the wsjtx_log_config.ini file once you have sent the log file.

Hi Kevin,

thanks for the log. Your rig is not responding to any CAT commands. Check that your CAT cable is correctly plugged in and the mini-DIN plug has no bent pins. Check that COM3 is the right serial port, and the CAT baud rate on your rig really is 9600. You have selected "Settings->Radio->Stop bits->One" which is wrong for your rig, you can select "Default" for "Data bits", "Stop bits", and "Handshake".

Hello Reino, audio in RX is good, even when changing or restarting the application it won't work, I changed the power settings in USB and all that.

The way I resolved my issue was to reinstall Windows 7.

Subject: [WSJTX] WSJTX audio is intermittent in win 10 #AudioIssues

Hello all!

I'm looking for some help, I started having issues where WSJT-X stops sending audio while doing TX, I'm using an Icom ic-7200 and Windows 10. At first I thought that maybe RFI then I got a few ferrite cores and still doing the same thing, works for a few minutes and then suddenly stops sending audio. The way I found to fix it momentarily is to delete the WSJTX.ini file from C:\users\profile\appdata\local\WSJT-X and have to get confirmed everything and it works for another few minutes. Have you seen this before?

thanks 73 de KG5MDJ

Hi Adrian,
On this mailing list there are a lot of emails about USB power saving issues and other reasons that course Windows to enumerate audio codecs in your computer. Symptoms fit to that. In many cases just closing and opening WSJT-X would help, even easier would be to go Setting  > Audio and select any other destination than “Audio codec” and re-select the original one. You did not mentioned what happens with reception. If that is also lost, then the above is a possible reason.

I’ve seen the topic a few times lately. For what it’s worth, I checked mine some time back to make sure it was still set to None. It was. I just checked again and there are still no files in the Save directory and I upgraded to 2.3.0 the day it was released. Sometimes, I wish there was a feature that could be turned on that would allow you to leave “Decoded” turned on and have it delete that folder every 24 or 48 hours. In other words, I’d like to be able to “discover” something I’d like to check/verify after the fact and be able to go back and look at it.

Hi,

It seems odd that in some, not many, installations the None button does not work. I am running both Windows 7 and Windows 10 system 24/7 and not a single *.wav file is saved once I selected None.

locked WSJT-X instance manager #transmit

Amos Sobel 4X4MF

I am using 4 instances of WSJT-X and JTALERT with Flex 6600 radio. Sometimes I make a dangerous mistake: I call a DX on one instance while I am still calling another DX on another instance. This makes the radio transmit alternatly every 15 or 30 seconds on 2 frequencies and 2 antennas. Since some of the antennas tune slowly SWR and gets high  and in addition the power amplifier duty cycle can get almost 100% when one instance is on Tx even and the other on Tx odd. The risk grows higher when using a linear  amplifier.
I was once told that this problem can't be solved by WSJT-X because there in no communication between instances. So let's create such  communication and call in Instance Manager.
I envision Instance Manager as a small task in the background monitoring the Tx command output by all WSJT-X instances. When more then one Tx commands appear, all Tx commends are blocked. Alternatively: Each instance is given a set priority. Only the highest priority instance is allowed to transmit.
I believe  there are other WSJT-X users worried by this problem.

Who will volunteer to write the WSJT-X Instance Manager?

Amos Sobel 4X4MF

Hello YO8BCA,

One answer. I have Flex5000 and use NO cables. All cables are now virtual (software cables) Cables. Control, audio, PTT, CAT are all virtual.

As many others Kenwood TS-2000 users I was trying to find a solution to reduce the number of cables between transceiver and PC. Audio i/O, FTDI for ACC2 PTT, serial for CAT.
If the TS-2000 had the option to select the audio input (front/ACC2) or if the CAT&audio was on USB bus it would be OK, but it's an old rig so this is what we have, Of course, there are of the shelf solution like Signalink or others audio and CAT interfaces, but this are also expensive (for me anyway).
After a while I came across a site where is presented a theoretical solution used for repeaters: a cheap (under $10) USB audio interface with a "Mic Mute" LED.
Now, I would like ask the WSJT*X savvy's  or developers: how hard would be to implement/add  a "radio button" for "MIC Mute" PTT in the radio PTT section from settings?
If this would be possible, the hardware implementation would be the easiest solution I can imagine. An optocoupler or a small reed relay acting as PTT when the 'Mute" is active.  After all, we don't need the mic input when the transceiver is TX-ing.
The solution wold be a simple one even for older rigs with a little tinkering.

So, Is there a possibility to add a "Mute" button for PTT?
