locked WSJT-X instance manager #transmit

Amos Sobel 4X4MF

I am using 4 instances of WSJT-X and JTALERT with Flex 6600 radio. Sometimes I make a dangerous mistake: I call a DX on one instance while I am still calling another DX on another instance. This makes the radio transmit alternatly every 15 or 30 seconds on 2 frequencies and 2 antennas. Since some of the antennas tune slowly SWR and gets high  and in addition the power amplifier duty cycle can get almost 100% when one instance is on Tx even and the other on Tx odd. The risk grows higher when using a linear  amplifier.
I was once told that this problem can't be solved by WSJT-X because there in no communication between instances. So let's create such  communication and call in Instance Manager.
I envision Instance Manager as a small task in the background monitoring the Tx command output by all WSJT-X instances. When more then one Tx commands appear, all Tx commends are blocked. Alternatively: Each instance is given a set priority. Only the highest priority instance is allowed to transmit.
I believe  there are other WSJT-X users worried by this problem.

Who will volunteer to write the WSJT-X Instance Manager?

I usually run two instances of WSJT-X concurrently (FT8).
I often swap the bands on which each instances is operating in order to swap the (mutually perpendicular) antennas fed by the radios driven by those instances.

For example, I start by running the rig "I" instance on 40M (using an E/W antenna) and the rig "Y" instance on 80M (using a N/S antenna).
After a while, I'll swap and run the rig "Y" instance on 40M (using the N/S antenna) and the rig "I" instance on 80M (using the E/W antenna).

If I want to get the advantage of colors for stations I've worked on each band since each instance was first started, I must rescan the ADIF file (I presume the contents are cached upon startup and maintained in memory for the coloring function).
I do this by pressing F2 (to show the "Settings" dialog) and clicking the "Rescan ADF Log" button on the "Colors" tab.

Other than re-starting each instance whenever I am moving to a band the other instance has worked, is there a better/faster way to keep the colors working properly?

Hi Jacques,

the Meinberg NTP client installer  suggests you select pool servers from the pool.ntp.org project, using pool servers allows the best performing servers to be rotated every few minutes so you get best synchronization. All you should have to do is select 3 or 4 pool servers from your local pool, something like:

0.pool.north-america.pool.ntp.org
1.pool.north-america.pool.ntp.org
2.pool.north-america.pool.ntp.org
3.pool.north-america.pool.ntp.org

See https://www.pool.ntp.org/en/use.html for details.

Make sure you have the 'iburst' attribute on each server line in your configuration file to obtain fast initial synchronization.
