Hi Robert,

For clarification - did you mean the wsjtx program windows closed, or MSWindows (the OS) shut down?

Julian - a recent issue of the ARRL technical magazine QEX had a fairly detailed article on FT-x technical specs. I don't think you are an ARRL member, but I could send you a copy if you like. But I am not sure if it covers everything you want. Worth a try tho.

Is there a spec for WSJT/WSJTX for the time error that it tolerates and the
width of the frequency band that it searches, in the various modes?

Basically, how many times does the s/w look for the codes in each mode, and
with what timing errors?

Ken,

The adi file contain the gridsquare tag although no QRA was available for logging i.e. was not received. As you noted in that situation the length is set to 0. That’s why I asked whether QRA was present in all.txt file.

I don’t get what you mean by entering the relevant parts of the ADI file entry. Are you using some other program than wsjt-x fo r that entry?

Hmm.  If the message I sent looks confusing it is because, although I think that I entered the relevant parts of the ADI file entry, something about this system seems to have eaten the information that was enclosed between the 'less-than' and 'greater-than' signs.  I think that is was treated like an HTML tag or something.

To clarify, an entry in the ADI file looks like ... 'less-than'gridsquare:4'greater-than'AANN ..., what I am seeing is a value of 0 for the gridsquare length value (e.g. gridsquare:0) and the grid info is missing.

I hope that this make better sense now.

Re: Missing gridsquare info in the ADI file #logging

Andrea Tommasi

Hello,
I think it's not a problem, but when you call a long call like some SES it don't call with gridsquare and when you call a station during it's RR73 or 73 you don't read also gridsquare, check the grid box and it's empty.
In these cases you need to search grid on QRZ.COM or other log and copy it in the grid box ad hit ADD so next time you call this station WSJT-X have already grid in it's database (file CALL3.TXT) and put it automatically in the grdi box and in the ADIF log file.
These operations must be made before the end of QSO so the grid info appear in the log windows before hit OK otherwise you must add grid info also in the log windows in grid box before hit OK.
Hope this help you.

Have you compared adi file and related ALL.TXT to see whether the grid was actually received at all? Some operators skip Tx1 to save 15 s.

Re: Auto Uploading to LOTW and QRZ

+ AA6YQ comments below

Both JTAlerts and GridTracker will upload to QRZ but you have to be a paying member and have the API number. Else you have to use something like LogPublisher with DXKeeper as Rob suggested. I tried that but had issues so I just decided to pay for the lowest level QRZ service (XML).

Both will also upload to LoTW. DXKeeper will also upload to LoTW but you need JTA or GT to get the QSO to DXKeeper.

+ WSJT-X can log QSOs directly to DXLab. See

https://www.dxlabsuite.com/dxlabwiki/GettingStartedwithK1JTModesDirect

+ With this interoperation, callsigns in the WSJT-X Band Activity panel are color-coded for award need (DXCC, IOTA, Marathon, VUCC, WAS, WAZ, WPX) and participation in eQSL and LoTW.

Re: FST4 modes with TS-890S - slow RF envelope rise problem #txaudio

Peter Hall, VK6HP

Hi everyone,

First, should say that I have now submitted a WSJT-X bug report to the developers' list and perhaps when the team has had a chance to consider it we may hear back from them.

Paul, on the matter of the eBay simple noise gate circuit, I can say that it does work, although it is not as sophisticated as Rik's digital implementation.  It's the same general concept but uses a JFET as an attenuator element in response to a control signal from an envelope detector.  There is no hysteresis but setting the threshold high enough works out well in practice.  I bought the blank PCB from the Polish seller simply because I was curious as to whether I could make it work at 475 kHz.  The actual circuit (MXR Noise Gate) has been around in one form or another for ages and is well-known in the music community.

You can find details of the PCB and a link to the schematic etc by searching for eBay item 254048537744.  I made two changes to allow good 475 kHz operation: the dual op-amp U1 is now an NE5532 (from my parts drawer) and the gain of the envelope detector is reduced (and its bandwidth increased) by changing R7 from 4k7 to 33 k ohm. For RF applications use a 51 ohm input termination and make R20 (the output resistor following the unity gain buffer) 51 ohm.  I outline the option as a starting point, not as a fully-tested solution.  It does drive my PA fine, and you can see the general action on the snapshot of the beginning of an FST4-60 transmission below,

73, Peter.
