Bill, to see if you can do that, in Windows File Explorer on a different computer, click on Network Neighborhood. If you see the other computer in the Neighborhood, you can replace the IP address with the computers name and that will work.

If you can't see it, then your network isn't setup for local name resolution. There is a chance it could still work using the name.

There are some work arounds if it doesn't work. As that's not a wsjt issue, contact me off the wsjt-x list at the email address below.

I did answer this in the “Auto Uploading to LoTW and QRZ” thread. My answer was:

GridTracker identified a callsign on the air that you have not previously had a QSO with. The criteria for identification is based on the filtering criteria set up in GridTracker. If you don’t understand my answer, let me know and I will go into more detail. If you want to turn it off, look in the settings at the alert and call roster areas.

Apologies if this is out of the scope of the forum, so I will take a slap on the hand if it is.  It's just I have a grid tracker question and I think someone must think I'm pulling their leg, because I've asked a few times now on the Grid Tracker group but no one has responded.

What does "New Hit" mean?  I genuinely do not know and I cannot seem to find the answer.  I mean Grid Tracker is great, but it keeps shouting "New Hit" and I really, genuinely, do not know what that means.  Anyone know?

Somewhere in the menu system (alerts?) there’s an option to shut that comment off. Also it may explain it in the menu. I can’t remember, but it probably just means it’s you’ve heard a new call sign.

As more than one of you have suggested, two of my three monitors are indeed HDMI and I didn't give any thought to the fact that there were sound devices associated with them.  To test and verify this might be the cause of the problem, I started up JTDX, made sure the correct sound output was selected, and then powered down/up one of the monitors.  When the monitor came back up, JTDX was then connected to the wrong sound output path.  I then duplicated the test using WSJT-X.  So, indeed, it's the re-enumeration resulting from power off/on or sleep that's the source of the problem.  Since the two monitors currently connected via HDMI also have other connection types available, I think I'll opt for simply replacing the cable adaptors with something other than HDMI and that should allow me to continue to use the sleep function for the monitors and eliminate the problem.  My PC video card uses the mini DisplayPort connectors, so I need adapter cables anyway.

Thanks to all who suggested the HDMI possibility.  This correction will probably solve some other sound card related problems that I had previously blamed on Windows updates.

Hi Floyd,

I believe you can disable the audio devices associated with your HDMI connected monitors is you are not using that part of their functionality. If they are disabled then power saving options should not cause rearrangement of the Windows audio devices.

Hi,

Turning off the monitor sleep worked for me, using W10 OS, and it was the HDMI issue.

Since doing that(over a year ago), the issue has never re-occurred.

Are the monitors HDMI? If so they contain audio (playback) devices and
allowing them to sleep will cause Windows to renumber all audio devices.
Renumbering (reenumerating) audio endpoints (devices) can cause Windows
to reset the sound cards.

Note: I do not know why WSJTX is more sensitive to reenumeration than
other software. Many other applications will identify sound card by
name rather than "index" and can follow reenumeration without losing
the selected endpoints.
