Hi Tim,

I assume that you may now control rig PTT using two parallel methods via CAT control and Signalink VOX. A bit more information is needed how exactly is your PTT connection between Signalink and rig is done. It may be that the Signalink part of it is not used at all or both CAT and Signaling VOX both control rig PTT.

As such it should not make Signalink PTT relay chatter. You could try to deactivate Signalink PTT and see whether the CAT control really does rig PTT properly. I assume that there is a VOX level control in Signalink, just turn it down or minimum.

I don’t know whether RF could cause VOX action in Signalink; perhaps when the VOX setting is near its threshold.

For about the last 2 weeks, during transmit the PTT relay in my Signalink USB starts to chatter. It's on various bands and is intermittent; not with every transmission. Sometimes worse, sometimes not as bad, and I've actually completed contacts with some chatter. I have v2.2.2 running on WIndows 10 with a Signalink USB and an ICOM 746. The same hardware has worked fine since 2018. The Settings|Radio|Test PTT button keys the Signalink normally - there is no chatter during the test.

I have searched old posts here, and also the Tigertronics troubleshooting page but no reference to a similar problem. My PTT Method has always been set to CAT, not VOX. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

That’s Ham Radio deluxe and as I said in my post that is working well.

The logging question from the original poster is about HRDlog.net which is a separate thing.

Thanks for trying to help though, having 2 logging programs with similar names is confusing.

As far as Kaspersky, I couldn't find where to do anything with website settings, or whitelists or exclusions, but it wasn't the website itself, it was the auto refresh of the current activity and the Last QSO map that was being blocked, being treated as a malicious app or function as I recall.  was just easier to remove Kaspersky completely and go with another security package.

Hamish, I was getting ready to try my MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.7 when I saw this thread.    I've been using a Windows PC, but want to try the Mac.  Now I'm a bit concerned about SiLabs VCP.  Here are the latest release dates from their notes:

CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.3.5 - February 25, 2020
CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.3.2 - January 27, 2020
CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.3.0 - January 20, 2020 CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.2.4 - December 13, 2019 CP210x Macintosh OSX VCP Driver 5.2.3 - December 6, 2019

If I go to their legacy link, it only shows a version 4 driver. I haven't found a way on their current website to download other than V5.3.5. Is that the release you found would not work with Catalina? I'm just trying to prevent frustration when I get around to trying this.
Thanks,

locked Rig Setting for Yaesu FT897

Mark Swaney

I had an issue getting WSJT-X to control my Yaesu FT-897 and several users suggested I post the problem and the solution I found on this list.
I followed the detailed installation instructions carefully and added the SiliconLabs VCP to my PC running Windows 10 along with installing the 64-bit WSJT-x v2.2.2.  My sound card device was a Yaesu SCU-17.  I selected Yaesu FT897 as the rig, but was unsuccessful in using CAT control for transmit.  I checked the timing and switched all the possible settings, but it still didn't work.  I knew that rear CAT port was working as I had been using it to control the rig with a panadapter program.  I took my SCU-17 to a friend's shack and replaced his with mine, but it was a slightly different install as he was using an FT-891.  Mine didn't work in his setup either.  Taking both SCUs back to my shack, I discovered the Windows Device Manager would show his SCU in COM ports 3 & 4, but it didn't see my SCU, so I resumed experimentation with his.  Now with the know-good SCU-17, it still would not control the CAT port when selecting FT897 as the rig - trying every setting we could change.  Several people on different groups suggested trying other rig setting, as they were successfully using rigs not in the menu.  So the closest transceiver to the 897 is the Yaesu FT857.  It's almost identical.  I think they even have the same main board in them.  Well, it worked to select FT857 as the rig (YEA!).  All of the settings for the 857 were exactly the same as for the 897.  I went back to the 897 setting - and it still didn't work.  Then again selected the 857 as the rig and it's working like a champ.  I've made QSOs across the US on 40, 20 and 15 so far.  It's still very confusing why it wouldn't work with the FT897 settings.  Damn bugs!

Part 2...

This from the tigertronics website:

Radio "flutters" [relay chatters] between transmit and receive - This is caused by an incorrect software volume control setting on your computer.  It happens when Receive Audio from the radio enters the sound card's mic or line input and is fed back out the sound card's speaker output.  To fix this problem, you need to open the PLAYBACK volume control panel and MUTE the "Microphone" and "Line In" volume control.  Be sure to disable the Mic/Line In control under PLAYBACK only (NOT Recording!) or you will not be able to receive!

This is probably a coincidence. The power thing is two states, on or off. If it is on then no problem.   That is very likely not the problem. Also true that they do not switch off if they are in use. Every time they are accessed the clock starts over.
