I can do either the normal install from Ubuntu, or Flatpack. I prefer to not use Flatpack.

I have researched the messages on this group and the documentation for WSJT-X and cant find anything on this problem.
I am running a FTDX101MP with a USB cable directly to the computer and WSJT-X 2.2.2
I can run 1 instance without any problems and everything works.
In the audio selection I can select left or right for main or sub band and either will work.
I can start 1 instance with the command line with rig name and it works fine
When I start the 2nd instance with the command line with rig name (different from first instance)
the 2nd instance works fine and the first instance stops decoding.
both instances are showing receive signals on the waterfall
on the first instance the decode button stays highlighted all the time.
the 2nd instance is working fine on either left or right and moves to the main or sub band with no problems.
Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Roger,

when using multiple WSJT-X instances you should have the first instance started with no --rig-name= command line option.

Allison,

a build is not difficult many Linux users build WSJT-X. If you don't want to build then you must wait for Linux packages for WSJT-X to make v2.2.2 packages available for a wider range of distribution versions. We are a small development team and do not have the resources to make packages for the large number of Linux distributions and their various old versions.

I recommend you try building from sources, the majority of dependencies needed are listed in the INSTALL file:

...

On Linux:
build-essential
gcc-4.8.2 or clang-3.4 or newer
g++-4.8.2 or clang-3.4 or newer
gfortran-4.8.2 or newer
CMake-2.8.9 or newer
git
svn
asciidoc
texinfo
Also qtmultimedia5-dev, libqt5libserialport5-dev, qttools5-dev,
qttools5-dev-tools, libusb-1.0.0-dev, libfftw3-dev. Note that
these are Debian style package names, other distributions will have
different package names and package contents. For example on
RedHat style distributions the packages will be something like
qt5-qtmultimedia-devel, qt5-qtserialpport-devel, qt5-linguist,
libusb-devel, and fftw-devel.
...
and the build and install instructions:
$ mkdir ~/build
$ cd ~/build
$ tar xzf wsjtx-2.2.2.tgz
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
$ cmake -DWSJT_SKIP_MANPAGES=ON -DWSJT_GENERATE_DOCS=OFF ../wsjtx-2.2.2
$ cmake --build .
$ sudo cmake --build . --target install
If successful this will install the built application into /usr/local,
if you wish to install it elsewhere, simply set the CMake variable
CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX in the configure step above.

If you are using V1.4 Beta version of WSJT-X you are not using the correct version of software presently at V2.2.2. My 706 and signalink uses VOX as the ptt.

First suggestion is to crank up the #29 control link baud rate to 19200.  Good news is that if you can change frequency you have picked the correct rig ID 58h.  Now for some questions:
1- What Icom radio CAT software package are you using?  Depending on the package, you may have to turn off CAT control of PTT and set it to VOX instead.
2- Which connector on the Icom are you using for your audio I/O transfer - "DATA" 6 pin mini-DIN, "ACCY" 13 pin DIN, or "MIC" RJ45 jack?  DON'T use the mic jack!  Either of the other two connectors  are OK.
3- Now for the SL-USB: Does the red transmit LED come on when you click the "tune" box on the right side of the WSJT window?
If YES, then enough audio is making it into the SL-USB to trip the VOX circuit. Adjust the front panel Tx lervel to between 10 and 12 o'clock.  Then set the level adjust slider on the right side of the WSJT window till your ALC meter just begins to wiggle. Do NOT run it up to full scale.
If NO, then the "Speakers" output level on the computer is too low.  You need to adjust the computer playback level into the SL-USB  while WSJT is transmitting (put it in tune). Make sure the SL-USB VOX trpis every time, then go back up to the level adjust slider
This is part of a new audio level set procedure for WSJT on Windows 10 beginning with version 2.2.0 and all newer.  It is detailed in the online Help file.

Hi Allison,

there is no such claim. The package we produce is targeted at Ubuntu 18.04. Mint Linux 19 is equivalent to that. You have two choices, either upgrade your system to Cinnamon, or build WSJT-X from sources. The latter is probably by far the easiest option. Instructions in the INSTALL file at the root of the unzipped sources tarball.

It is important that the same baud rate is entered on the transceiver and the software. Here it runs with 57600 Baud. Install the driver first, then connect the TS-590SG. It is described very precisely on the Kenwood page on the web. And then select the appropriate COM port. Depending on what is already in use, this is individually different.
