I have exactly the same issue with logging, no DUP flagging or rejection.  Bill Somerville helped me get by the blank SEND report, by explaining that TAB 2 does NOT work in WSJT Contest mode.  Once i started using TAB 1, that cleared up, but i'm still stumped by the DUP problem.  That's a big part of the advantages N1MM offers.

Any help will be very gratefully appreciated!

Don,

that's not what the original question was about.    He didn't want to delete everything, he wanted to make sure that if he deleted old versions, it WOULD NOT delete the settings, all.txt, and so on.

You can't get a "clean" uninstall by just deleting the WSJT Folder.

locked WSJT-X and N1MM for Field Day

Ed Pflueger <ab4iq@...>

A couple of friends and myself have been testing the Field Day WSJT-X and N1MM using FT8 or 4.  I am running WSJT-X 2.2.1 and they are using the previous version.  All three of us are using the latest version of N1MM.  All three of us are using Elecraft K3S's and Windows 10 Pro.  Using WSJT-X as a stand-a-lone program works great and N1MM works great in all three modes for Field Day (RTTY, CW, SSB) but are having a few issues.

We start N1MM first and have the WSJT-X configuration in N1MM set (we think) OK, and type in FT4 in N1MM and all seems to be OK WSJT-x Fires up with the red FD button showing.  Our report will be 1D KY and that is set properly.  The rig in WSJT-X is set to DX Lab Commander like the N1MM instructions dictate.  The box goes from red to green and all seems to be well,

We can send and receive our reports just fine, except when it's time to log it (MINE ONLY) says report not complete.  At the very bottom where it says send and received reports my SEND report is blank but my received report is filled in with their information.  Once I manually enter (MY SENT REPORT) 1D KY it logs just fine in the N1MM log and the WSJT-x contest log.  My friends and I copied the same configs and are all the same.  Theirs work and mine don't.  That's my issue...

The second issue we can send each other report after report and N1MM never says "DUPE" to the same call and report.

Sure would like some advice before next Saturday.  You can email me direct at ab4iq@...

Thanks Ed.. AB4IQ

Port won't time out if you reset the power settings on it to Max Performance.   Not Max Power Saving.  Try that.

I don't think it is necessary to access the Windows system to keep the port from timing out.  It would just require a short bit of Tx audio data to be periodically sent by WSJT-x automatically without activating the PTT function.  This way the keep alive Tx audio data would not be transmitted.

Hi,

Yes it did work in the early versions, on all modes. But it was felt that robotic QSOs would result if used on FT8/4, so it was withdrawn for those modes.

I believe it still works for the others?

Maybe you need to talk to Flex. Maybe they need a check box to mitigate the issue.

Hi Geoffrey,

apart from the fact that many users have VOX arrangements for keying, it wouldn't help anyway. The problem is some device being powered down that in turn causes all the audio devices to be renumbered internally. WSJT-X gets no notification that the device it sends audio to is no longer the one initially chosen. Note also that using an audio device does not involve a connection, unlike using a serial port when one process takes exclusive access to a device. Because there is no connection, Windows does not know that an audio device is in use when it decides to rearrange them all.

Hi Bill.

Tnx fer reply and sri for delay.

The PTT is USB via Serial converter and RTS.

Its worked fine for years.

Anyway,  I went back and had a run with MixW and BPSK.  All worked as usual so it wasn’t the radio.

Back in WSJTX and blow me, normal service resumed.

So, none the wiser.  Just a glitch

Thanks again – Phil (G0DOR)

I saw Joe K1JT on FT8 during the contest and he went over to FT4 where I worked him; he called CQ there for 10 minutes and gave up went back to FT8. I have used FT4 with great success on quickly fading signals like single-hop eskip although for weaker signals the extra sensitivity of FT8 may still be an advantage.

If you click «Help» in the WSJT-X top line commands, and then click «Keyboard shortcuts» (at about the middle of the help items list), you will get a beautiful list of keyboard shortcuts, including the «Alt+Z» command at the bottom of that keyboard shortcuts list.

Will that reset "Any" decoder, or just FT8 ?
