Maybe you need to talk to Flex. Maybe they need a check box to mitigate the issue.

Hi Geoffrey,

apart from the fact that many users have VOX arrangements for keying, it wouldn't help anyway. The problem is some device being powered down that in turn causes all the audio devices to be renumbered internally. WSJT-X gets no notification that the device it sends audio to is no longer the one initially chosen. Note also that using an audio device does not involve a connection, unlike using a serial port when one process takes exclusive access to a device. Because there is no connection, Windows does not know that an audio device is in use when it decides to rearrange them all.

Yes, but that doesn't delete *EVERYTHING* associated with WSJT.
You can't get a "clean" uninstall by just deleting the WSJT Folder.

I don't think it is necessary to access the Windows system to keep the port from timing out.  It would just require a short bit of Tx audio data to be periodically sent by WSJT-x automatically without activating the PTT function.  This way the keep alive Tx audio data would not be transmitted.

Hi Bill.

Tnx fer reply and sri for delay.

The PTT is USB via Serial converter and RTS.

Its worked fine for years.

Anyway,  I went back and had a run with MixW and BPSK.  All worked as usual so it wasn’t the radio.

Back in WSJTX and blow me, normal service resumed.

So, none the wiser.  Just a glitch

Thanks again – Phil (G0DOR)

OK, so is that PTT via a USB virtual serial port RTS or DTR pin and no CAT control?

I saw Joe K1JT on FT8 during the contest and he went over to FT4 where I worked him; he called CQ there for 10 minutes and gave up went back to FT8. I have used FT4 with great success on quickly fading signals like single-hop eskip although for weaker signals the extra sensitivity of FT8 may still be an advantage.

If you click «Help» in the WSJT-X top line commands, and then click «Keyboard shortcuts» (at about the middle of the help items list), you will get a beautiful list of keyboard shortcuts, including the «Alt+Z» command at the bottom of that keyboard shortcuts list.

Will that reset "Any" decoder, or just FT8 ?

the configuration files, log, and journal files are yours, in your user directory, the WSJT-X uninstaller does not touch them.

Hi Gerhard,

I have a "back-burner" project to separate out the MessageServer class and what it depends on into a shared library. It is not high priority as those who have shown an interest want to use it with closed source software, which it will not be licensed to use with. Attached is a udp_export.h that should be usable, note that it is only a template which you will need to populate with the required __declspec() directives for your compiler/linker.

Please note that the MessageServer and NetworkMessage code is within the GPLv3 licence of the rest of WSJT-X so can only be used under a compatible licence.

I can give one reason because I am one of those that sometimes does this.  I am trying to contact states needed for my 5-Band WAS and JTAlert notifies me when there is a station on the band that is in a state that I need.  It even tells me the last time that station uploaded to LotW.  I always move to a vacant frequency and wait until all 73s have been sent before I start calling.  I do not know why it has only been in the last week, but the upper HF bands have been active the past few weeks.

Same here with my Icom 7300 using the single USB cable, but I have not updated Windows 10 to the new 2004 version yet. Everything was working before I updated the program to v2.2.1.   The CAT control works, but error message says Error in Sound Input--Error opening the audio input device has occurred.  WSJT-X will attempt Test PTT or Tune, but no audio is being received from the radio.  My microphone is turned ON in Settings and the USB Audio Codecs are selected for Soundcard Input/Output (Speaker and Microphone) under the Audio tab. Absolutely nothing on the dB bar.  Does anyone have a fix?

Hi Neil,

don't worry, WSJT-X is a user mode application and it doesn't require elevated rights to do its job. We will not be changing that, nor adjusting any system settings on the user's behalf.

The WSJT-X installer uses elevated rights briefly to write the Windows Registry with the uninstall settings, the main application does not use, nor should ever be run with elevated rights.
