What version of hamlib are you using?

The error message seems to be indicating that you have set the software to use the FT-817 as the backend (the rig selection).

I checked the supported radio list & and for the most recent versions of hamlib, the FT-857 has it's own entry, indicating it's own backend for that radio.

I'm not familiar with those two radios, so I don't know if the FT-857 is 100% compatible with the FT-817 backend.

So, you might want to double check your rig setting.
