For me email isn't an instantaneous message system. The laptop I have for email is downstairs, the shack is upstairs and I usually check my email account about twice a day. Once in the morning and again in late afternoon, so it wouldn't help me if someone messaged me in between times to say that they could hear me. I don't even have my phone with me when I'm on air. That's usually downstairs on charge for if I go out, and then I'm not on the radio either.
