Locked Re: Error In Sound Input #AudioIssues
By the way Mike. I have another PC in the shack running two VirtualBox virtual machines. Both Linux Debian OS (one runs my Home Assistant smart home devices and the other runs an ad blocker called pi-hole). I also have a Rapberry Pi running my 3D printer. Both of these have USB cables, not wrapped on Toroids and I have no issues with those devices.I would think if I had any RFI in the shack I would see issues with these devices. Thanks, Mike, AE8USent from my T-Mobile 5G Device

I've had quite a few problems lately with audio drivers not working all of a sudden and though it might be RFI but I'm beginning to think it's either me plugging/unplugging stuff and a Windows bug re-enumerating the audio devices.Mike On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, 01:08:22 PM CST, Michael Ernst <mernst@...> wrote: Mike,I have addressed the RFI topic previously, but let me address it again. The error is occurring when I am not transmitting and have not been transmitting. So that eliminates RFI, other than any RFI being generated by Device power supplies. And furthermore, I have every USB cable and every wall wart cable wound around a Toroid. This issue is not RFI.Thanks, Mike, AE8USent from my T-Mobile 5G Device-------- Original message --------From: "Michael Black via groups.io" <mdblack98@...> Date: 2/15/22 13:42 (GMT-05:00) To: main@WSJTX.groups.io Subject: Re: [WSJTX] Error In Sound Input #AudioIssues That sounds like RFI in the shack....notorious on USB devices and is band and power sensitive. You should find that if you turn power way down the problem goes away.Chokes on ALL wires -- USB cables, speaker wires, etc.Mike W9MDB On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, 12:28:10 PM CST, Michael Ernst <mernst@...> wrote: I have further information on this issue, and I am interested in any feedback from others who are having intermittent errors regarding "Error in sound input". If you are also receiving this error, I have two questions:1) Are you also using JTAlert, and have it set for sound alerts for such things as needed stations, etc.?2) Are you using USB speakers for the sound alerts, along with the USB Audio Codec in WSJT-X?I have discovered if I change the JTAlert settings sound card from the USB speakers to a non-USB audio device (in my case I am using a set of headphones), then the error goes away. I am still trying to determine if it is an error in the JTAlert software, or a conflict between the USB Audio Codec driver and the USB Speaker driver. But I am almost certain, at least in my case that one of these is the culprit.Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks and 73,Mike, AE8U
