Locked Re: Using WSJT-X with a TS 590 SG

Hmmm,

Ok, not to be insulting... but are you SURE that you have the settings>radio>RIG  set to TS-590 SG, NOT just 's'?

When I had borrowed a friend's radio, an 'S',  I was told it was an 'SG', it drove me nuts until I looked at the rear tag... as soon as I saw what it really was, & selected it, it worked instantly.

Also, make sure on the computer that you turn OFF ALL of the power save features until you get this working. It may be turning something off in a short period causing it to not work.

Don't give up! Be persistent. There are plenty of TS-590SG owners out there who use wsjt-x; one of them will have an answer for you.  If you have a good club in the area, see if one of them has this rig setup & invite them over for a peek (being careful of course). They might see something obvious that we just cannot see.

When you went down that 590 list, that the gal linked to, was anything out of place?

Ultimately, you may need to start over, delete that driver & try again; as it almost sounds  like it is corrupted or something.

Hi Reino,
To answer your questions, no, the rig control is still an issue. Several people were also surprised to see that com3 was the active one. This was not my choice but got selected once the Kenwood software was installed on W10 64 bits. I use a USB cable between the radio and the PC. Menu 67 & 68 are set to 115200.  The baud rate is also 115200 on WSJT-x on Settings>Radio. CAT does not work, testing goes to RED.
What is happening is, once I power the radio, it opens up at :160m and the big red part next to it.  The decode will show plenty of activity but comes up with Hamlib error after a minute or so.  I cannot recover from that.  I have followed very closely the specific parameters that differ from different sources. Kenwood says: Data bits:default, Stop bits:default, Handshake: default. Other sources say: 8 data bits, 1 stop bits, handshake none.  Neither of them work.
Very discouraged and ready to give up !

Yes I did John, Actually, the radio that is brand new had the 1.07 software level, the latest one The only thing I had to install was the Silicon lab files, the ones that create the codec links. On COM3 I now see Playback speaker USB Audio Codec and on Recording Microphone USB Audio Codec. These are the ones you suggested to rename.  Opening either of them with command run "mmsys.cpl "shows they are properly working with respectively levels of -18 dB and 0.00 dB.

Hi Jacques,

It seems that you have got audio working, I assume. Have you got rig control working? You state that your audio is on COM3. I am a bit surprised, if you see it in Audio tab. COM-ports in Radio tab are related to CAT control. Have checked you com ports in Windows? I studied a bit TS 590SG about cat control and noted that there are two methods one using USB connector along with audio and second using COM connector. There are (at least) two menu items 67 and 68 for setting baud rate for those ports. Make sure that you have set same baud rate for correct ports than you have in wsjtx. You may check functionality of the cat using Test CAT button in Radio tab, should turn green, may take some time.
