I used the sw version, which can be downloaded from the wsjt-x site.

And no rig was used.

Therefor the error message was a bit strange to me.

Sorry no details but it refers to a rig error.

In the meanwhile I did give it another try, with the same results.

I ignored the popup error message and that helped.

At least the error message did not appear anymore and I can use the sw without trouble.

every rig control error includes a "Show Details ..." button.

Since the PTT serial port is not available to be selected then I suspect a problem with the device that is providing that. Having to guess here as you give so few details. Maybe a USB to serial adapter, maybe a serial port on your laptop? Does the COM port appear in Windows Device Manager?

If you are using Windows 10, again no details provided, then a restart (note restart, not a shutdown and reboot) can sometimes help.
