I have been using WSJT-X 1.6.0-rc1 for nearly a week now. During this time I have noticed that the JT65 decode performance is not quite as good as I expected and not as good as version 1.5. Signals down as low as -21dB to -22dB seem to decode ok, but those lower than -23db have not been decoding. I have seen quite a few blips slightly above the noise that do not decode. With the previous 1.5.0 version, I often decoded JT65 signals down to -25dB and every once in a while -26dB
I am running OS-X 10.11 on a Mac and have an external sound card. My rig is an Elecraft K3. I didn't change anything in my equipment setup and simply installed version 1.6.0-rc1 on my computer. I also installed the latest KVASD program that came with 1.6.0. I have tweaked my sound card volumes, as well as the audio and rf gain on my K3, but didn't see any improvement. I also have not seen any increases in the noise floor at my location. I have also tried the deep, normal and fast decodes, and no improvement in number of decodes.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should be checking?
Thanks and 73,
